I went on a very chilly ride today with my good mate Tim who bought along his bank manager Marty. As we were unloading i said to marty been riding long mate,he replied that he has riden road for years but has never riden in the bush before.I looked around at the state of the carpark and thought we are in for a long day.Conditions were terrible.it was a very chilly 12 degrees has rained for the best part of the week and the tracks looked as slippery as an ice rink.We headed off at a very gentle pace with Tim in the lead and me following Marty, about 100 metres from the carpark in the first rut we encountered marty went swimming in about two foot of water. After we stopped laughing tim and i helped him out and got him going again. For the next 1/2 hour we took it very easy to let Marty find his feet but i knew we were right to go when marty and his big 450 banana went flying past me.The next 4 hours were an absolute hoot with all of us having those tightening moments but getting thru without a worry.Marty ride like a champ and did everyting that Tim and i could throw at him.we hit 70klms of slimy hills, water filled ruts, creek crossings and some great single trails.we got back to the carpark we couldnt wipe the smile off martys face,as we loaded up he asked when we were going out again!Another great day in the bush.
