Well it finally happened.after 3 weeks of trying i finally convinced someone to come riding with me.Myself the one and only menace,davo61 and my good mate tim met at the bp servo at calder park at 8.30am,after the hellos and bullshit catchup we headed off on the 40 minute trip into wombat state forest on the Gisborne side.I decided to travel up with menace because he has no friends so dave had to drive my car. After the 40 minute trip we quickly unloaded ,geared up and and set off at a frantic pace.Tim led the way with menace not far behind while myself and dave tried our best to keep the two leading dirty pumpkin riders honest. We decided to tackle a horror of a little hill straight up to my dismay as i have never made it up before, tim told to take a toughen the fuckup tablet and have a crack. You can imagine the joy on my face as my blue racing machine sored past tim trying to pick up his overpriced euro trash on the way to the top of horror hill  the rest of the morning went really well and was done at good pace with a couple of geat hill climbs that kept us all honest.we arrived at the pig and whistle hotel just on 12.30 and the order was very easy-4 deluxe steak sangas 2 pots and 2 cokes.meals had trash talked so we headed out again. i thought the pace was quick on the way out but i was stunned on the way home as the 2 dirty pumpkin riders really took off,i followed as best i could and dave bought up the rear. the afternoon ride was a thriller and i started to get the hang of the pace and thought i could start to push the dirt euro trash along a bit,i dont know if they were being nice but i actually got past tim and menace and led the ride home.I must admit at times leading i thought i was going to shit my pants as i have never riden so hard and fast before.

    well……
after listening to Aido sook about having no mates for 3 weeks, i gave in to his feelings of dejection and agreed to come on his ride.
i was only really going to see my old buddies, Tim (a kato riding legend who is learning the laws of the cornerman system, one corner at a time), and Davo (the franky j holden lookalike brother of Aido who only has one concept of time)

i met the fellas at the BP at calder park. we had a bit of a yak and decided to head off. the fellas wouldnt let Aido in the car and kept taking off everytime he tried to get in, only to stop and console him before doing it again. very funny it was
when i saw Aidos bottom lip starting to quiver and his eyes were welling, i yelled out to the little battler to get in my car. he couldnt believe his luck and was as exited as a dog with two dicks. the little fella even did a bit of a wee.

we talked some shit in between Aido licking the window and barking at the other cars. he seemed a little anxious so i put the window down so he could sniff the wind with his tongue flapping around. he calmed down and soon wanted to put his head on my lap…. but i was having none of that

we arrived at the LZ exactly 40 minutes later and unloaded.
getting into the forest was great. it had rained friday night and there was little dust. the pace was pretty good, even Aido was keeping up. we got to the first challenge hill. i launched up its face and stopped at the top to get some helmet cam footage of the boys. Tim went next, and not wanting Aido to take the wrong line and have to do another walk of shame, he laid his bike down on the hill so Aido would see his beautiful, shiny orange KTM, and take the other line. our experiment worked and Aido managed to struggle up the hill. he was really excited agian about conquering it and did another little wee.
dave and tim made it up the top with out further trouble and we hit some more wicked tracks.

we came across the MTB track and headed in. Aido was so scared he was shaking cause its the same track he attemped his now imfamous “bridge jump” last ride, which didnt quite end up the same as if someone like robbie madison did it. i remember there being a lot of tears…… and a bit more wee!!

we cruised down the track and came to the wonky timber bridge. tim and i went over it but the dynamic duo on thier blue racing machines baulked at it. they must have forgotten to take their cement with their warm milk that mum made them for brekky in their favourite loony tunes mugs.
they were muttering something about trolls and how they couldnt cross the bridge on their yamahas as they will get eaten. only Aidos special magic fairy wand could ward of the evil monsters and he had left it at home on top of his dollhouse, next to his ballet shoes and tutu.
they had to take the chicken route across.
we came across the imfamous bridge jump. it had been destroyed by some bloody vandals. Aido was so releaved. i picked a line around it and launched up the side of the cliff to miss the poles that some idiots had put in the ground. i think they were to keep the trolls at bay. i made it over and davo followed me. with a bit of a push and pull he made it too. Aido was making chicken noises and wanted to take the easy route. Tim, being a hell of a nice bloke and fellow kato rider, decided to ride the easy way first so Aido wouldnt be scared. he made it through alright and Aido somehow got stuck in the gully and Davo had to take over and get his bike up. leaving Aido to do a little walk of shame….and a little more wee

i took this opportunity to ask Dave how far it was to the pub. he said it was around 40 minutes. we were all starving so we wiped up Aidos tears and wound our way to the pub. we took on a few more tracks and came to a gnarly little hill with a nasty switchback in the middle. i tried to do it in one go and lost the front, dropping the bike and hurting my wrist a bit. someone had to show everyone else how NOT to do it. all was good and we trundled on.

we arrived at the pub and Aido was so happy to have some mates there he brought us all lunch. the steak sandwiches were great but my egg looked a bit dodgy so i threw it on the floor of the pub. Aido wanted it and was drooling. i had topull on his leash and tell him to heel. (i really hate disciplining in public) he settled down and lapped up his beer.

there were a couple of other blokes in the pub and Aido just kept staring at them and wagging his tail until they started talking to them. we had to get out of there quick before Aido started rooting their legs. he gets a bit toey after a couple of pots   funny little fella he is!

we headed back towards the car taking some different tracks. Dave had drunk too much coke at lunch and was happy just to cruise.
Tim and i, on our very well priced, supemely engineered, orange, enduro roosting weapons, that incidently are only made in Austria, took off like cut cats. Aido did his best to keep up, like a dashound tied to a towbar, but alas was lost in the afternoons dust that the mighty orange hellhounds were unleashing, leaving him with the taste of dirt in his mouth and reminding him of his early school days when it was cool to eat mud pies and dog pooh.

when we got back near the cars Tim and i decided to give the little fella a chance and we stopped for a few minutes to let him and dave catch up. he was all aloof as how well he was riding. we didnt have the heart to tell him dave was only cruising and was right on his arse all the way. it doesnt hurt to let a poor man dream.
we took off again for the last stint to the cars. with a sly wink between us we let Aido take the lead. he was on fire. we were really pushing him, but making him think he was beating us. we all got to the top of second gear at one stage. i could hear Aido yippeeing from the front. and i think i saw some more wee come out. he said it was his camelbak leaking but we all knew better. he was just being modest ;)

when we got back Aido made us all sit down so he could relive his glory and victory in the “great race to the cars”. it was sounding really good and we sat there tongue in cheek and praised him.
it was short lived though as we soon realised the little mongrel had forgotten to bring the beer…… bad boy!!!

we left him to gloat to all the animals in the forest while we loaded up and said our goodbyes.

he was still talking to the trees when i left, so i just gave him a pat on the head and told him to be a good boy…. dave called him back to the car and we all left.

it was a great days riding. i am proud to say that i helped bring Aido a false sense of being a good rider. for a couple of moments, he was the man….. and that gives me a nice warm feeling inside…..

now i know why he wees himself so much, its the same feeling.

i had put it down to poor house training or possibly a weak bladder….or just old age :P

    the end

Geez, how can two stories differ so much.

On one hand there’s someone who is getting better and more confident and on the other there is someone who should realise they are over the hill and start behaving like it.

    I’ll let you decide who.

But really would you buy a house off either of these two ?
