It must take about 4 seconds….Yeah Probably, but it was the first time in my life I was responsible for the maintainance and performance of a brand new $13700 motorycle.

AnonymousYep, this biking lark isn’t cheap. I could have bought another decent motorbike for the money I have spent on mine in 6 months! With oils, filters, tyres, graphics, pegs, suspension, fuel, insurance, rego, exhaust blah, blah, blah
January 22, 2009 at 5:39 am #119111Cheapest form of motorsport, and we can buy a machine that is basically capable of winning anything in the right hands for under 15K fully set up.
Moto if you do your own work on a smoker it can be very reasonable….I support 3 smokers in my household was 5 at one stage, on a minimal budget (according to me anyway, my wife thinks otherwise)Sorry Rat My KTM experience was the exact opposite of yours, except for the 50s, but in them I will say one word “COBRA”

Hhahahah I thought the same thing, you could also throw the words LEM and Polini into the 50cc equation.
I bet I know what TB is gunna say was his worst bike.
January 22, 2009 at 6:05 am #119118Lem -a ktm wearing different clothes
Polini – not much chop in the 50s, but the 65 is another story all together
Cobra (King Cobra is the current one I think), a weapon that Indeed eats all opposition, but they are not a production machine , they are USA made one off hand-built thing that would not be what it is if it came off a production line, I think they only produce 900 units a year
But I stand corrected, the KTM 50 only dominates the normal real world, not the elite top level, that is for the King Cobra,Thanks Mr Blue for that

Quote:Yeah guys the worst bike I have ever owned is the KTM , I mean how boring it gets blowing all opposition away, the huge kms I get out of them is the biggest drag, you know you have to ride this sucker for ages before they need anything done to them, and the jumping, braking and turning, how the hell am I supposed to feel when I cant get anyway past half throttle, cant jump it anywhere near what its capable of, the braking is terrible, you just rest one finger on the bugger and it stops, oh and that damm Hydraulic clutch, I was used to arm pump from those cables and boy I miss lubing them continually, and the way your riding buddies cant keep up, it gets real lonely waiting for them. Parts, where can I start, it really shits me that the parts are the same for all models and because of that they are cheaper, I dont know how the hell I am supposed to support the industry if the bikes models all have interchangeable bits that save money…..I just cant stand it any longer I am going to change to a Honda, at least then I can feel like the rest of the sheep, rather than this feeling like I was in a group of beginners, now I can fit in and be a beginner, what Honda do you recommend Mick…or TB, I am open to suggestions.Bill did you see me bump my head yesterday?
YOU ARE A WANKER DAVE! Of your KTMs that YOU ride only one of them has been going since this site opened and you joined almost 8 Months ago! And its only one of your two that is going. Maybe you should get some cheap interchangeable parts and fix the other!
Ok thats done worst two bikes I have every owned was a KX125A7 Disc front, air cooled uni trac suspension, thing just blew up and than cracked a reed stopper and feed into the piston, and that was rebuilt and it did a main brg and it was rebuilt and the back shock bladder blew
KTM 250 cross country, failed a main brg, then split a clutch basket, counter shaft output brg, and 2nd gear shift fork, and was so expensive for parts.
Best bikes have been my XR’s all six of different sizes, rebuilt one after 2 complete race seasons including state and club rounds. Never done a clutch, gearbox, head gaskets, cams nothing touch wood, I am happy with them anyway

I knew that bike would get a mention, that is what turned TB into the KTM hater he is….LOL
January 22, 2009 at 6:15 am #119122Hey TB you have not heard the best, I went for a proper ride yesterday and it went well for about 500 meters until I binned it at warp speed, I can barely walk today,
Now that the boss is back its time to behave
The worst bike I ever had was an old suzuki beach bike thing that a golf fella had tried to convert into a caddy, it did not work so I got it for $10 and tried to convert it back to a two wheeled bike, that didnt work either, but what did work was the pain generator, the thing was un-rideable, and you fell off if you went faster than walking speed, so it did generate lots of pain,
There you go on topic and all
January 22, 2009 at 6:17 am #119124That’s not fair Mick I rated the KX125 first and worst
But I put two so the white elephant (the ktm as they used to be white, they changed the colour because now sheep ride them and they would blend into the bike   ) could be included
TB
January 22, 2009 at 10:04 pm #119127Actually TB you got out of that particular model KX125(A7) lightly, if they went for anymore than a few hours and you jumped them or rode hard into the rough the frames snapped spectactularly all over the place.
Was not one of kawasakis better attempts.
