Polini – not much chop in the 50s, but the 65 is another story all together
Cobra (King Cobra is the current one I think), a weapon that Indeed eats all opposition, but they are not a production machine , they are USA made one off hand-built thing that would not be what it is if it came off a production line, I think they only produce 900 units a year
But I stand corrected, the KTM 50 only dominates the normal real world, not the elite top level, that is for the King Cobra,Thanks Mr Blue for that
A bit off subject but well worth a look, the 65 is very impressive but at USD $4200 + delivery + etc etc
The 65 C.A.R.D is USD$6400:S

AnonymousMy first ever bike was a 50cc Italjet I had for my 3rd Birthday when we lived in Saudi Arabia. It had learner wheels and everything, I used to burn it around the desert near where we lived
Don’t remeber how quick it was though or how many RPM it was doing

January 23, 2009 at 3:47 am #119257Murray Watt did an article on the italjet 50 crosser for ADB way back in the day, was a brilliant piece of gear saw one at Qld titles one year and as you say way faster than most 80s’ I’ll dredge the riders name up from my memory banks eventually….actually may have been Stu Benett??
Moto, Italjet besides scooters and stuff also made a little minibike with cast alloy wheels that many bought the kids for a first bike, was a Peewee style bit o’ gear, that what you thinking of? as the MXer model most 10 yr old experts were flat out holding it down.

January 24, 2009 at 3:22 am #1190761990 CR 250! It was my 3rd CR and My last. There was something about the front rake that i just couldnt come to terms with. It got some serious attitude at speed on hard dirt, generally resulting in the front washing out from under me….now with some more age and smarts, i figure i may have been able to sort it…maybe? On the Italajets..My stepfather and his mate were importers in S.A.(also OSSA or were involved in them someway or another) for a while, way back in late 60’s or early 70’s( wasnt with my old girl then) He and said mate had a lot to do with S.A. mini-bikes/speedway got to in the Whyalla area. Apparently they were some serious goons. The old man entered a Ferret MK.2 scout car into a smash up derby…because the car nominations were done with engine not car make. They listed a Rolls Royce. entered the Feret. Werent allowed to play
He has some interesting Scrap books from that era.
