I would look at both components of the ignition timing. I am not too familiar with the 01 yammi, but with a few machines over the years I have owned and worked on had rotors slip on their keyways and the timing is no good past 60- 80 rpm (which is kick speed at the start of the kick) so the thing would fire once and die, just remember the stator is only half of the spark timing, just a thought, good luck
