    Hey OBT
I’m having an issue with my wr 450 it’s an 04 model.
I just bought the bike with no lights working the bloke
Told me they work(sure) anyway now the battery won’t take
Charge multimeter on battery terminals show it’s losing
Volts on high rpm. I replaced rec regulator still no fix. Any ideas?
It runs awesome until the battery drains then it pops and conks
    Out.
    Cheers glow.

These model WR’s had a light weight starter that could burn out, don’t wind it over continuously. Just short bursts.

If the battery is new and charged then it’s possible the starter is dying. If the battery is old then it could be a tired battery.

try running a set of jumper leads from your car battery ? The regulator should be pumping out about 14 volts with a fast idle

Should I unplug my battery incase that’s holding it back?

    G’day

Have just been thru a bit of electrical issues with my WR450 albeit this thing is far from standard.

It ended up being the battery – you can run all the tests under the sun but if the battery is faulty it will continue to play up. :pinch:

It should read between 13 – 14 volts at about 4-5000 rpm. If the battery is not fully charged you will never get the correct reading. Fully charge the battery and start from there otherwise get a new one which by the sound of it will probably fix it. Don’t get a lithium one get a standard one.

    Hope this helps

You may have a short somewhere ? check all of your wiring especially around the frame area where your wiring is in contact with it.

    Good luck with it
