Does anybody out there know how many mls of oil to put back into each fork leg?
March 10, 2009 at 10:03 am #125385Should be in the manual, I`m presuming ya don`t have one though, approx 4.5ltrs at a guess,,,,,
Someone on here will know for sure;)March 10, 2009 at 10:07 am #125386
AnonymousThe manual only gives you oil height. On my 04 model with 46mm forks, 550ml per fork leg puts you about 110mm oil height, which is middle of the height range, and works well….for me anyway. I use auto transmission fluid, which is about 7-7.5 W.

March 10, 2009 at 10:26 am #125389Thanks for the info guys, I thought it was 5-600mls per leg but after the mishap on last weekends ride where the fluid started pouring out from the allen headed plug on the bottom of each leg, I thought i might have filled them up too much  but I think it was more likely that the plugs were’nt tight enough:angry: out with the rattle gun this time;)
March 10, 2009 at 10:29 am #125394Thanks TB, I will give that a go tomorrow as I’m a bit concerned with using a rattle gun to tighten them up again:)

AnonymousMike, Why did you take out the plugs in the bottom? Did you redo the shims? You should only need to unscrew the top caps to change the oil.

AnonymousMike, give fathead a call at battye’s. He’s just done my forks and they are heaps better. He also reduced the air gap which has made them feel smoother too

Eagle – How the hell did you think you were going to get 4.5 litres of oil in there!!
