Hi All
Bought a 15ltr Safari tank to fit on the WR450 “07 – having trouble with the radiator guards. GYTR and B&B won’t work with the tank and the recommended Force guards also stop the tank from fitting (the force guards are same shape as B&B
I purchased the rad. guards and Tank some time ago and only now getting around to trying to fit them so a refund is out of the question
The rad. guards need to sit close to the radiators not “flare” out on the sides. The “devol”ones from Ballards look promising but don’t want to shell out more bucks if they don’t work.
Anyone got any ideas on what guards actually work with the Safari Tank

November 10, 2014 at 6:41 am #260187I have to 15L tank on my ’11 WR450 and had the same problem and in the end I left the guards off. The tank itself protects the radiators from fall damage so the only concern is something piercing them
November 10, 2014 at 6:58 am #260191I was going to butcher the guards and attach them somehow just for protection from being peirced but never got around to it.
November 10, 2014 at 7:16 am #260193Thought about running nothing but was also more concerned about something piercing from the front – which would be my luck :pinch:
I will wait till after the Rideadv nav ride then have a go at trying to fit the tank.
Thanks for the feedback – appreciated

I`ll let you lead on the way down to the Nav ride Linz so the 690 doesn`t throw any spears at ya
:laugh:November 10, 2014 at 8:11 am #260195No Wuckers mate – I’ve seen a radiator speared before – fast way to grind a ride to a halt. I’ll be running the current set up till I get back then will muck around trying to fit it

November 10, 2014 at 8:21 am #260196What about some of the ‘boy racer’s ‘ alloy grille mesh zip tied to the front of the rads?
It’s not armor plate by any means, but it would stop stones and small sticks.
I was going to use it on the 640 but I was trying to weld it  and changed tack.
November 10, 2014 at 8:57 am #260198Found this pic so there is obviously something out there that will fit – might start the process again with Safari last time seemed all a bit too hard.

November 10, 2014 at 9:01 am #260188Well Rocket Rod is running a FORCE Bashplate there, so maybe Force Rad Guards are worth a try ???
Good luck with it Linz
November 10, 2014 at 10:13 am #260189I have had 2 different Safari tanks on mine and the rad guards stayed on with both Lins , I will wander up the back now , via the fridge and check , but I am almost sure they are force rad guards .
Stay tuned to this station folks !
November 10, 2014 at 10:21 am #260190Yep , my rad guards are Force branded , and the Safari tank on the bike presently holds 19.4 liters of fuel.
I just checked the force web site , the guards they are selling look the same as what I have fitted to my bike . They will fit Lins , Just use a little force mate , don’t be precious with the gear mate .
November 11, 2014 at 7:31 am #260199I could have forced mine to fit but was worried the guards would wear a hole in the tank
