Following our triumphant ride at the Coonabarabran Pony Express, I have decided that the forks on the WR250F need attention. They are nice and compliant – which I love, but have a problem with bigger hits, or even medium hits. A contour bank is not something I should have to slow down as I approach and roll over. So heavier springs are the go.
I have used Jay Foreman in Newcastle in the past with my DRZ, and he was great.
But I thought I might get some opinions from my respected and knowledgeable friends on OBT before calling him again. (Moto, no need for you to reply mate!)
Post up your experiences and recommendations and I will update this thread with progress and a review after work is completed.
Thanks!!
Edit: Because I am located in central west NSW (between Dubbo and Orange) I am hoping for someone regionally based rather than having to either get the bike or parts to Sydney.
September 21, 2009 at 2:13 am #153662Lots of good ones out there Ecks, My preference is too far away for you, esp when you already have a good man in mind.
If you’re happy stay with him.
BTW what size are the forks on yours?
BC
September 21, 2009 at 2:44 am #153663Nothing is cheap, every person that rides my bike on more then a fire trail is amazed by the suspension, it being so plush yet doesn’t bottom because of the valving.
Teknik Suspension all the way in my opinion and experience
They are only at Penrith, freight is easy

No idea to be honest BC, the owners manual tells me that they are “telescopic forks” but I haven’t delved deeper to find any other info.

Cool, thanks TB. They have a great website, very comprehensive. I will definately have a chat with them.
And Boony, get your own bloody thread sunshine!!
September 21, 2009 at 5:02 am #153678It’s ok Ecks, Yours are a different size to mine, just that I have a set of heavier (not heavy enough for me apparently though) springs and some valve stuff here, but I have 46mm and your’s are 48mm and they aren’t interchangeable.
TB is right though Teknik have a great rep for Jap suspension.BC

Nice, couple of leads so far. I hope to get a chance to call these guys in the next few days. Anyone else have any gems of wisdom?
September 21, 2009 at 6:33 am #153686You could have one of your local shops do them up, but like Boony just did, but correct me if I am wrong they fitted valve bodies and springs from purchased from Tekniks, my thinking is if they are good enough to buy the parts of, well they must have more up their sleeve, tricks of the trade etc when they assemble them maybe??
TB
September 21, 2009 at 6:43 am #153687TB is correct,,The actually manufacturer/ supplier normally keep some tricks up their sleeves..Thats how they stay in the game after all..
