I’m just curious, but I noticed that both Mick & Moose had huge motherin’ taillights that are reminiscent of a CT185 AG bike, while the XR’s my mate has have a nice sleek version like this:

(Ok that one’s broken, but it is still the lowline version!)

Can anyone tell me why that may be?

Just to show what I mean, this was Mick’s taillight at the Hill End ride:

That is because, both Moose and my tail lights are ADR compliant stockers.
I have since replaced mine with a snazzy LED one from Ballards.

So the ones on my mates bikes are non-compliant? They were sold that way, registered, from the dealer… was he using a bit of poetic licence with the blue slip?

I like your new one Mick, especially compared to the CT version that preceded it!

I dunno if your mates one would be compliant or not.All XR’s had the big snorkle type ones when ours were sold.Kinda retro.
I have two other XR’s in the shed with taillights like your mate has.

I had never seen XR’s with those AG taillights till you and Moose showed up at Hill End, every one around here has the little lowline version. As I said I’m just curious! Maybe the Wauchope Honda dealer had a heap of old CT taillights and got rid of them by sticking them on XR’s!

The older little bikes (and the big ones) came out with big arse tail light and number plate assemblies.

The newer little ones; 400’s and down came out with a smaller one mounted up on top of the rear guard (but was still larger than the Ballard’s special). The big ones at that time retained the mother of all tail lights.

As for Moose and Mick’s lights…well, they’re old blokes and everyone knows old blokes would rather spend their spare pennies on smokes ‘n’ grog instead of flash gadgets!!!!

Of course if TB were to supply an explanation then it would be worded something like, “…well Honda had to fit the bigger rear lights so that we could be seen way off in the distance on the trails and you blokes on KTMs wouldn’t get lost. You know it was my idea dontchya? I spoke to Mr Sushiyama at the 1908 four day and he invited me over to the land of the rising sun to develop the larger Aussie version tail light…blah blah blah.”

It’s been a long day indeed! You know I’m joking don’t ya big feller? Oh crap I just remembered, he knows where I live!!!

    Where’s the ANYKEY?

By the way I told you the story, I told Sushiyama at the 1908 four day that we needed brighter globes so that we could be seen way off in the distance on the trails and you blokes on VOR’s and KTM’s wouldn’t get lost, not bigger lights lol

…they only made Vors during February 2002. I believe it was a period of 6 days commencing on the 5th…but I could be wrong.

    what…. i owned a VOR. it was a 2001 model….
maybe it was pre vorld vor 1….like 1908 or some-ting.

it was vorsome all the same.

ps- XR tail lights are, were, and will always be gay, like the old blokes (in denial) that still persist in riding them.
but hey the “bay city rollers” were cool then too. you ask any honda rider, they will remember lovin them too….but its hard to get them to admit it:P :P :P :P

its easier to get them to admit lovin a sheep……

baaaaaa baaaaaaa baaaa baaaa bra anne….
oh barbara anne, wont you take my hand…………

    yeah honda riders sing that sh!t a lot…LMFAO.!!!!:P :P
