From the stage of the of bare bolts/ frames/ engine components being assembled the next stage to reach was this one, engine in the frame and complete.

And it was at this stage I had some words of advice along the lines of how are you rocker faces and camshaft ? Oh shit :pinch: took em out quick inspection I found em genuinely not too bad but… after the time and effort I’d put in I took the advice of Teknik and sent em all away to Waggott Cams… got em back looking like this :woohoo:

Pete from Waggott explained they used a process of applying a material (not sure if I should say what exactly) then re-grind the cam lobes and rocker faces as they need to. I’ve not yet given her a good run just a few 10 min warm up and cool down break in runs but a very noticeable difference already B)
Much more punch down low and generally stronger feeling over all. Maybe a mind over matter type deal knowing what I’ve done and had done to the JRP.

So as it stands she’s complete…. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: (aside from the exhaust gasket between the header & the Staintune muffler  ).

Over all I have to say not being particularly mechanically minded, either me or my boss who help with a good deal of getting things done, its not something I would do again by choice :S .
It did help having the right tools (thanks to my old man) and the manual, being prepared before you start is the key here.

If I did have to do a rebuild sometime in the very distant future i’d start with a clear plan of what to do not just bumble through it picking up things here and there. Also knowing exactly what im looking at would’ve helped on one occasion at least but it wasn’t a costly mistake and now I have spares that I can hopefully help fello JRP owners with ;)

So in conclusion I have to thank a few folks:
Lindsay from Probore for his expert work and advice
Spares team at Rock MC for the painstaking list of endless parts I was chasing
Teknik for the very timely words of advice
Pete at Waggott for the work on the cam and rocker faces
Peter at Venture smash for subframe work and painting
and a countless crew of locals who were full of advice and help when I asked.
I really cant say thanks enough.

I did say I would like to finish in time for the Coffs ride and I did :P I didnt attend the ride but the bike was finished early friday arvo

Nice to see the 400 has not been forgotten, was a very capable little big bike.
That 532 cam profile is an HRC grind, I sent John at Waggots an original HRC 400 cam to take a master off years ago, did the same with the HRC 650 cam.
