After The ride west or Warchoppy i was cleaning and re-greasing the bike and found I had bent the front axle
I had a look around and found its a common part [44301-KAE-870] For the XR400, XR600, and XR650 at least.
They’re pretty cheap and some in really good shape, of the dozen or so that i’ve found already.
Was wondering 1) if anyone blessed with an XR, as above, has an extra lying about and wants to exchange it for some dollars
2) How the _ _ _ _ I managed to do that? so I can possibly avoid it in the future.
Cheers B.W.June 26, 2012 at 7:15 pm #225009Hey Leo. I might have one from a XR600 in my bits and pieces. I will have a look this arvo. One thing I can assure you though, a XR650 one definately wont fit. They are a fatter axel than the 600.
Actually, when your bike was laying on its side when we were fixing your chain, I noticed that the axel wasn’t protruding as far through the front fork as it possible could have been and meant to say something then we got side tracked and I forgot all about it.June 26, 2012 at 7:21 pm #225010I am not sure they are different Mick as I ran a CRF230 hub front and a 400 rear hub on my 650 (remember the red hub set) The only mod was to drill the rear disc mounting holes for the 400 hub. I also saw a 400 front wheel fitted on a 650 at the Condo 750 during the lunch break borrowed from a local
Not sure just saying that I dont think they are different

June 26, 2012 at 7:29 pm #225011Thanks mate, I looked on http://www.motosport.com and filled in the details for a 00 XR600 and a 04+ 650 ( I think  ) and in the fiche the part number given was the same could be a data error :pinch: .
I’ll be in port at the end of the week to get my new sprockets and chain :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: from Rock, so if you find one and it suits you i’ll drop in.

44301-MBN-670Yep the Top is the same as the 400 and the 650 L it seems.
Who’d have thunk the 650R and 650L would use different parts like those :huh:June 26, 2012 at 9:01 pm #225018Bulls Wool wrote:micknmeld wrote:XR600R AXLE, FR. WHEEL
