    Thanks again Nick.

How’s that engine coming along now?
Be very interested to see this go back together, the steps and processes.

Have to quote MT up next week but its all stripped and ready. Cam and rockers are away being repaired, piston is back order from Japan. I was going to look at a Wossner as their ring packs have been good on other engines but they are nil stock in Australia and US. Even the eBay vendors selling them don’t have them.
So ill just play it safe with an OEM piston.
I do want to try those rocker arms out that some guy is selling in the US, $65 a set of 4 but ill leave that experiment to my engine. The hard faced cams and rockers can tolerate some oil starvation and don’t have the chrome flaking problems the stock rockers have.

Do you bore the cylinder or are they pressed in/out and replaced?

Stock sleeve can take up to 3mm overbore. Ill bore this one as we are only going 0.5mm.
Big sleeve can take 106mm but only Wiseco/JE pistons so no good for high Km.

With regards to sizes, what range does OEM provide with their oversize pistons?

Sorry for all the questions too Nick but I do tend to drain knowledge from people in the know..

I’m a motor mechanic by trade (no longer in the industry as it doesn’t pay enough) and would prefer to do my own work however when it comes time for a freshen up of mine (650R) I think i’ll send it your way. Will be worth the postage for it to be done right.

Plus I hate opening manual gearboxes…..especially motorbike gearboxes as I’ve had nil to no experience with them.

Got the cam and rockers back. Hard faced, will stand abuse.

Stock pistons are in 4 sizes, 0.25mm increments up to 1mm. I went for 0.5 as I don’t think the bore would clean up at 0.25, she’s pretty ugly.
