Everyone’s pretty much covered everything, but as I owned a 690 I may as well throw in my 2c worth.
In my opinion it is a bike that can do everything but with out spending money on mods you wouldn’t want to do any more than a day trip . I done a 3 day trip on mine on the stock seat and was walking like huggy bear for the next 3 :pinch:
Saying that though a damper was the 1st thing I brought cos of a tasty tank slap :whistle:Awesome bike though, it was on the open trails on song where it really excels – that’s not for the faint hearted as your going at a rate.
It rode the tight stuff ok and was surprising not that fatiguing (unless you drop it – not the lightest) cos of the power delivery it so smooth, I could do everything the lighter bikes was doing just at cruiser pace, so if you want to improve as rider in the tighter stuff, I wouldn’t recommend the 690 cos your ride it with a lot more caution .
Drz another bike that that capable of ticking a lot of boxes, better in the tighter stuff than the 690 to.Hope this helps
CheersDecember 2, 2012 at 10:26 am #233157Hey Chris t
Thanks for the heads up regarding longer trips,i know TB had said as much in his post.As for the smoothness of the bike,i dont know if its my bike or not, but a mate of mine has a 950 super enduro which he let me have a go on last thursday.
.
Just a short ride mind you,and not as fast as i would go on mine 👿 but i was surprised at how much smoother engine/suspension was.
Not only that ,the overall feel weightwise of the bike was less and as far as i know they are very similar in weight :unsure.
Which makes me realise i need to get the ten sorted as its suspension is somewhat lacking atm.
Ace, once ive been on a ride theyll be taking the piss outta me too.
December 2, 2012 at 9:26 pm #233158Hey TB
Which mod am i better off doing first damper or suspension. :Also taking into account it may be awhile before i can afford the second one.Im hopeing that they dont go hand in hand and are pointless one without the other.
If its the damper could you please suggest make/model and where to buy.
cheers :cheer:
December 2, 2012 at 11:34 pm #233160I would look at the suspension first James, the damper is not that critical for the type of riding yoy do most of. The dampers best benefit is in soft sand, rocky sections and ruts which by the sound of it you don’t do much of and the suspension upgrade will improve handling in those situations as well.
Tekniks are the guru’s here.

Hi James
Mate the suspension first as it actually reduces a bit the need for the damper
Speak with Nick or the staff at Tekniks. As for the damper I will make an enquiry as I knew where there was a few very cheap priced rally moto ones

December 3, 2012 at 4:59 am #233164Suspension it is then thanks guys. :woohoo:
TB those dampers arent the older model ones at adventure moto are they
I had spoken to Steve some time ago about them, i think at that stage he only had one left at roughly half the normal cost.
Didnt get it though as at the time i was saving up for [in my case] a surburban adventure suit 😆
And at 1700 bucks it kinda blew the budget for a while  Mind you it is good and im happy with the purchase.
I dont suppose anyones got this friday off for a ride so i can get the suit out of the burbs :pinch:
