I thought I would make the most of the sunshine and my day(s) off to go for a ride. I have just put the bike back together after the Cameron Corner ride so it was also a good opportunity to make sure that the left over parts weren’t going to affect the bikes performance!
I headed up to the Watagans via Martinsville and with the sun shining but all the recent rain, the tracks were in perfect trailriding condition. :woohoo:
I headed down Laguna were there were some technical sections on the decent that woke me up a little. :S There were also some of Eagles pigmy wallabies hopping around that I didn’t want to clean up.

I would have hated to be riding this trail when this tree javalined itself down the mountainside!

This was just an opportunity to take a photo of the Beemer.
This is great countryside and I enjoyed just cruising through all of the farmland on Watagan Ck Rd before I filled up at Laguna and headed for Yengo National Park.

Into Yengo and I was at an intersection deciding which way to go when a bloke pulled up on his Dominator. Michael had travelled up from Gladesville and had no spares, food, phone reception, idea where he was going or planned route so we both set off for the Boree Track. Once again, conditions were perfect and we worked our way towards the Putty.

just missed putting a foot on this critter :pinch:

After 40 odd klms on the Boree track we made it to the Putty Rd intersection where we had a short break and Michael headed off back to the big smoke.

Michaels emergency breakdown/survival kit incl. Pack of 25’s and 600mls of water
I started back the same way but detoured via Finchleys lookout. Apparently this is where the explorers first crossed into the Hunter Valley after the third attempt. The history books show that the phrase “your F%$&#n shittin’ me aren’t you” was coined after they reached this peak only to see endless mountains in front of them.

The run back to Wollombi was great along Yengo Creek Rd with countless causeway crosssings thanks to the recent rains. There was plenty of wildlife too, so I took it easy as the sunlight was starting to fade.

Another gratuitous Beemer shot

Probably not the smartest thing, taking a photos as you ride across a causeway…but anyway

I wound my way back up Watagan Creek Rd and into the Watagans for the run home. All up, just on 250 klm done today in what could only be described as perfect riding conditions. The bike went well and I had so much fun that I think I’ll do it all again tomorrow and try to explore some different tracks through the Watagans and Yengo.

Nice pics mate of some of my favourite spots in the Hunter !!
There have been a few of those Joe Blakes about of late,, I think the wet and now the unusual warm weather has brought them out of hiding :STry the Old Mill loop of Watagan Creew Rd near the top , it is a cracker,, but may have some rutted out sections down the bottom after the recent wet
