    Great topic HuskyB
Had lots of shit box Huskys that didn’t handle, didn’t have brakes, had 6 speed boxes and went like the clappers sure taught me how to fall off! Favourite was a brand new husky wr250 1996 model awesome bike it was still competitive at 8 years old!

nice roadies Mick what size was the RD

The RD was actually a 250., but I had a head on with a Charger on it and I managed to write it off. So after getting the wreck back I got a front end, tank and plastics off a 350, so that is why it looks like the 350 model. It went like a 350 though, as it had all the mods possible, it even had no head gaskets, I used valve lapping paste, to lap the heads to the barrels and used a copper spray on gasket stuff to make it seal. It raised the compression ratio to blazes! It was one cranky 250!

My favourite at the time was my ’72 Yamaha RT360. I thought it was just the ducks nuts. It had a decompression fitting in the head which I removed and put a spare spark plug in as it was always fowling plugs. Damn thing threw me over the bars a couple of times, kick start smashed into the back of my calf muscle a hundred times, the instep of my foot copped a hiding…..
The ’72 model was “dirt bike of the year” in its time in a NZ mag. It went hard tho and never let me down, well, not more than a couple of dozen times!
I take my hat off to the guys that raced these old bikes!
