Good point E V. I put my old 426 back to stock to take the sting out off it. Funny that exhaust is usually modified on most big bikes when they haven’t even set the ride height.
Strucky I am sure I have seen you on a ride before  seeing you have introduced yourself with a merry Christmas thread are you saying that you are Santa. He would be very busy at work at the moment I guess. So is it you ?? merry Christmas to all as well

CAUTION Aaron swear quite loudly at the start. Funny as though. :woohoo:
Bloody potty mouth bringing the site down  I knew I was in trouble after I said “those words” and you said. “And cut” while holding the camera. Seing I was the ony Tamworthian that failed going up there on saturday you don,t seem to have much footage of all the other guys successful attempts.
:silly: Great work on the slowmo on factoryphil showing him using a wheel stand well to smooth out the ledge and amazing watching the rear boingers moving perfectly to keep the wheel on the ground. If thats how you had to ride to NOT get up there then I had no chance!!! Thanks mall5.1 for all your videos and pictures. :cheer:

Did they do it in first or second?
What line did they take? Both took the left line and it sounded like second till the middle ledge then 1st after that although with Murph’s 500 it is hard to tell
Every gear sounds like 5th
STM
Was that your other left STM???? I only saw Murph get up there on the Saturday moist session. But he hit the ledge on the more right side. Once he got over that he did the best job I have ever seen of metering out the traction with the clutch. All you could hear was the rear wheel just spinning the tiniest amount. Beautiful to watch. I did fall and fail on my attempt at the widow maker on Saturday so I could have amnesia. So please feel free to correct me if I have got the attempts mixed up. Or seeing you are the King it might be “Off with his head!!!”

At least you did not end up in casualty with a nail through your finger or something. funny stuff. I can’t put any emoticons on here as the post has gone over its limit. ha ha
I saw one on DBW when SB 250 said [Nickj’s single track bike thread]about the CRF250 love hate relationships there . They put a pic of a super commuter next to it and they were almost identical. Except the color of course. Why dot they make a 400 ish in this category ????? Suzuki seem to be the only one to see that market????
Warning the following may warrant an response such as “DER!!!!” But it has to be said.
The inlet tolerance is 0.12 mm +- 0.03mm so you have to read 0.9mm to 0.15 if it is in tolerance.
Exhaust is 0.28mm +- 0.03mm so you have to read 0.31mm to 0.25mm once again if it is in spec.
I got my feeler gauges from Repco. They start at .05mm and go to to .635mm. I am assuming you cant stack them to get other combinations. Some of mine have now got slight burrs on the tips that you can just feel with your fingers and they are blatantly obvious when you try to push it between the cam and the lifter. So I will be looking for some more in the .3 to .05 zone. When working on the WR YZ engines it is hard to get them in if they are not bent but on the CRF it is not as much an angle so not as important. I bent some of mine to make it easier on my YZ. But you can buy them like that. I also find that they are easier to use when they are not connected together with the bolt like you buy them, as the other ones don’t get in the way.Boony wrote:will a piddly little 250 get up the widow???????  :whistle:Will a DRZ boony!! thought I might P you off You know what i’m like. 👿
Boony wrote:they look good in their birth colours nick,I have seen a black one somewhere !! and I am not sure if its me….. what mods will it recieve ??????I would love to put the originals back on now after seeing that. Boony you can have a lap on mine any time you want. I am sure you would rather a 250 to a new kick start on the DRZ. Tracy will hate me. One more tip Boon when the boss tells you that you can get a new bike do it.
Nice one Nick I am glad you made the right decision. :woohoo:
sb_250y wrote:Aaron wrote:Thanks hatto I missed SB’s average that he had in his post. Is the average OZ safari only 80kph. I know that is still quick but I thought it had the fastest average speed of a race of its type and length ??? I thought it would be over 100?? The race I am comparing to is obviously the Dakar. If its only 80 I had better go and show those Smith brothers how it’s done. :silly:Obviously a few Safari experts on here, think I will go back & keep my factual opinions to myself as it seems a few know a bit more about Safari than I do.
The original post was to compare hours to bikes & Safari bike will do the most tough K’s in the lowest hours.
Take all the Rally gear, wheel sets & fit original plastics & 95% of people will never pick it, these bikes look like new & have been flogged.
I have no idea what the average speed is in the safari that Is why I asked what the average was. I was hoping somebody could tell me. Unless it already been told and I did not listen … that has happened before. I should only be taken seriously 1% of the time. If that!
Corey8 wrote:Any thing over a 20 hour working week is to much i think but thats double what you do now LOLOh shit we are talking about bike hours. Buy new then you know what its history and hours. You can afford it big fella
Not after the Coffs Charity auction he can’t Corey !!! Yes But the price you can pick up a new one why would you buy second hand ! Especially when they are a run out model etc. There are only a few people that I know that service their bikes enough and they like their bikes. New is best unless you reeeeaaaly know the bike. IMO
LC4skin wrote:My bike has done 2336 kms, 64.9 hrs and its only 6 months oldJust get a 390 Berg Nick don’t worry about dealer support, since I got my bike I only went back once for the 3 hr service to keep the warranty in check. After that I do my own service and get parts from a little bike mechanic that is 2 mins down the road or order online.
You should get a 390 as well LC as your average speed is too high at 36k no wonder I cant keep up with you!
Thanks hatto I missed SB’s average that he had in his post. Is the average OZ safari only 80kph. 2000 K in 50 hours would give an average speed of 40 KM/hr. I know that does not sound like much but try to average that speed in singles. If you ride like me you will be getting personal with the flora. The pony x tracks have a un policed rule that the average speed in the races be about 50 km/hr. Although mostly it would be a lot quicker especially for the A grade riders. If a bike only did a race like The Fink I would suspect it would be way over 100. But for the riding we do on average including idling time, sweeping duties I bet the average would be closer 30 ???? If it has been only used mostly for racing and training the averages will be much higher. Hatto’s figure of 80kph would in my opinion be closer to a race/ train bike with the occasional trail ride thrown in. Just my 2 cents.
