The Mororo single looked fun Nick
. The camera gets a great perspective. The trail was a bit reminiscent of Kokoda at the cells. Lots of sticks and vines at eye height. Love your work.
How do you go when the strap gets stretched and the lens on the goggles get scratched are there many spares available.
A prospective son in law with a 2T. Hope the relationship between the two young’ns works out. Sound like a marriage made in heaven for you mate. I have ridden a ?1984 IT 200. I think it had a front disk brake. It was sweet. They also had a brand new DT200R so my eyes were fixed on the DT most of the time.
August 31, 2011 at 11:32 am in reply to: Current high performance 4 stroke bikes……. frustration #207960The current enduro bikes are race bikes while we used to race glorified ag bikes in the form of XR250 etc. People would spend rediculous coin making a 4T race bike. or transforming a MX bike to a enduro weapon. I saw a CRF 450x engine yesterday with the valve cap completely worn through and the cam half worn down and he did not notice it. It just would not start after he shut it down but it only had about 60ml of oil in it. Yeah they are unreliable sometimes but the alternative now is DRZ . That is why they are the most popular dirt bike at present.
Polly400 wrote:Nice graphicsYes Polly I will have to agree with you there.. Mats CRF looked great with those HRC stickers and almost looked like a factory bike. Don’t know why you didn’t mention the DRZ in the front of the shot as it was the best example I had ever seen.
I was not aware that Snow had an electrical fault. I will remind him of that as they all ribbed me when the one bolt fell out of the CRF.
Nice pictures polly good to see someone took some. We should get Sewart signed up so he can post some of his helmet cam footage.Wonder if this will be the next ” all new” model that they will keep for the next 5 or six years. And then only come out with BOLD NEW GRAPHICS And REVISED GEAR RATIOS until the next all new one comes out. In saying that does this mean the WR will never see the laid back engine ???? Will they ever make a laid back FI 250.??? Do they plan on sending the YZ and WR in two totally different development directions. If they want to go that way, why can’t they bring out a souped up WR450R to try and take on the DRZ 400 market and bring the WR more in line with the Current RMX450. ie a MX bike with slightly modded gear ratios a light, electric start and heaps of washers in the exhaust to get it through ADR.
huskybloke wrote:very nice Aaron, bet you cant believe the improvement in suspension to your old bikeIan the suspension is initially very plush and soaks up the small stuff without you knowing about it.
But at the same time never bottomed out on the bigger erosion mounds when I got a little exited.
I remember when I got my YZ and I was telling revthemonkey how the brakes were brilliant compared to the WR 426. He said they are probably not much better but the sheer lack of weight makes it pull up better. The CRF brakes are on par with the 08 YZ 450 though. But the front suspension on the YZ is taxing in the bush but sweet on a mx track. Horses for courses. Now I just have to keep on working on dropping 10 kg off my own ass to catch up with Honda’s development.
The only thing that went wrong the whole weekend that I did not cause was the front seat screw became loose but did not fall off. Every other bolt kept tight and I was watching them all like a hawk and they all stayed firm.
The bike handles the tight stuff beautifully and stops so well. It is so much faster forME to ride the CRF 250 over the WR426 it is not funny. The suspension was fantastic and I have not touched anything.. not even the clickers. I am a convert to the smaller bore trail bikes and I cannot see that changing for trail riding unless I get a lot fitter and ride a lot more.. Not going to happen.
The thing sounds horn with the pro circuit pipe and it has unleashed the beast within. The clutch is very light, progressive and as a result easy to keep it on the boil. I Still could mod the engine but I will wait to see how Matt’s goes with the 280 kit he is getting in soon. I have not stalled the thing by accident yet so I am having second thoughts about the recluse clutch. The starter is still set up so you need to pull in the clutch to make it fire but it has not been a concern as yet. The air cleaner set up is the only thing I don’t like about it as yet. Maybe they should change the air cleaner on Buzz’s steel framed WR 450 to see how easy it can be :blink:My Trip prep started with a trip to Bikes and Bits to pick up the bike as in my Aaron’s Shed post. But as I don’t have a shed really I will have to hire parts of Boonys. Buzz met me at the shop after having done his worst and we loaded her up to go to Boons for a sleep over for the early start the next day. Did you hear that Snow? I said “early” but obviously you did not listen to Boony, which is understandable. :silly: We hooked up and headed off to Mexico and it soon became obvious that the “Wilder-beast” (It has stuck BOB) was not so good at climbing hills.
We got to Pollys and I took the only photo that was not blurry I wonder Why. ????
I love looking at Pollys Place from that angle  :silly:We headed off to Cooma to meet Up with LC4Skin Bob and Nathan. And as Boon and Polly had hinted to they were 3/4 Cut. And Nathan was not far off having a bit of a pizza colored yawn. I do not Know how they managed to replace the Clutch cable in the state they were in but they got there. The Pizza soon arrived just after Nathans attempt. :silly: Soon we hooked into some Yager thanks to LC4 and the night was done  I will shout the shots at the next ride LC
We were Up early to post stupid messaged on OBT then we were off to Mexico. The Wilderbeast was left in the wake of Snows patrol and at that point thanks to Boony the corner man system broke down  We were sent on the tourist route through Lakes Entrance and It was much better view.
We Got to the park and not long later we were taken on the Menace local track tour. The Fire trails were heaps of fun and the tighter very well manicured and shovel formed berms were Epic  Long story but not for here. The little 250 was perfect in the trees and soooo much fun.
We got back to Camp and soon headed to the local pub to sample the cuisine and a couple of beverages. Once we had mastered the local lingo for beer sizes we started to drink much bigger glasses   The courtesy bus was a blast in more ways than one with the rear door almost hanging off left the rear seated occupants frozen and unable to laugh without cracking ribs. And with Boony in full swing it was a painful trip there and back. The party recommenced back at the park but ever so slowly the older folk started to slink off to bed. This did not go unnoticed and in the wee hours of the morning a VERY large noise was heard in the direction of the Tamvegas Bungalow. We were startled but amongst the confusion we regained our composure and ran to render some assistance. A few of us were soon called on to stop the smoke alarm from going off and commence a full CSI type investigation into the event. The crew it seemed were totally unaware of the loud explosion as a result of age related deafness and persistent exposure to Boony snoring. We removed the battery, tucked the oldies back into bed after emptying a few bed pans and went back to the ring of knowledge to try to work out who could have brazenly committed such an act right under our noses.
I was just glad that I did not go to bed early other wise I too could have been a victim like I have in the past with the possum incident at the Cells.
Off to Boon’s for shedies and a full debrief so more later. The party is going to plan the jagermeister has done its worst after too many beers and bourbons. Going to be a party to remember LC Nathan and Bob we’re primed and in year middle of a clutch cable change when we turned up at cooma so I hope it works today
My wife stuck heaps of photos of that stack on her fb page. Seems there must have been a few cameras on me at the time. I had fallen and almost fallen quite a few times before that so I guess was asking for it

If your taking that new red thing you can follow me I dont want to look at it all the way to Victoria
You will probably want to follow me as I think I will be carrying some of your stuff and it could fall out of my ute . So come behind beeoch. !!!
Seeing that we will be mostly doing maintenance I will be taking my WR on this ride…. sorry party.
They were trialing rotary type valves for use in 4T formula 1 engines but it failed. I am no expert but rotax engines had rotary valves deeeerrrr. But they also had reed valves like on my 950 2T jet ski 1999. As for the power valves. I was under the impression that they gave more back pressure to exhaust gasses to give them more power at low revs??? But opened up at higher rpm to let it breath and let the expansion chamber do its stuff. ?? My RGV 250m had two or three stages the powervalve would pull back as it went up the rev range. If this is not true I know you will tell me  Look up Wikipedia 2t there is heaps of stuff there.
Oh and well done by the way on the rebuild. I will send my WR around for you to have a go at fixing it too. :silly:
Man that must hurt. :pinch: A belly flop with a 80 odd kg bike slamming you in the back just because it could micro seconds later. Think there was a landed shot like that in one of micknmelds best pics post. Not funny.
King STM wrote:Sounds like your joining team black mate. It is a great team to be on. Brand doesn’t matter, its all about the attitude.
What sticker kit is going on her?STM
The jury is out on the sticker kit as I don’t know what the story is yet about the plastics aftermarket or what?? I will have to get Boony to go in and have a look so he can drool all over her:laugh: At least it will look different probably not as cool as your KLX250F  :silly:
