Why there? They should take it to the stretch between Tarawan and the Bri where you do see the occasional cross beside the road. I will say it again so no one gets the wrong idea with this thread. I think Excessive Speed in areas where it is dangerous and people have been injured or worse because of speed should be policed. My family is out there with the fools too. Sad to say but sometimes I have been the Fool. I am not talking about strait out speed. Its things like overtaking that car that was traveling a bit slow and getting back in a bit after the white lines had closed while doing 150+ etc etc.

Sad but true Roy I could have driven to the Bri! but the time factor could have been an issue. The second time I saw it was near the Truck overpass at the Idimitsu Coal mine. So keep an eye on your speed Roy they are in you backyard too. Thanks STM that could mean that I am off the hook. :woohoo: Now I just need to find out if there is a dispute over their ability to give fines  Not holding my breath though!

Is that Powered by the “DR Big” engine bored out/stroked to 800cc.Sorry I don’t even remember if the Dr big was a single or water cooled etc that was in the late 80s. Sounds insane love to hear more about it. A link would be great if possible. Aaron.

IMO the type and shape of stick and speed of bike and would have the biggest bearing on weather it was going to go through your boot or not. Yes some of the very low end boots made out of old school material could give less protection. But unless it is made out or Kevlar or metal I think it would still go through. Some of the more high end boots are aimed at Motocross and I think are more for fashion and comfort than protection from sticks. But keep the story going regardless cause a new set of sounds great :)

Mal We knew that the track existed but we just did not know where it was. We had tried to follow it on other occasions but regrowth and logging meant we kept going off track. Snow had been doing a bit of studying of maps and stuff and got us there. Of late various teams have been doing reconnaissance and it seems to be paying off. Will be sure to pay dividends for the Big Nundle Ride 2011 ;)

Fark me they can peddle a bike

Some of those tank slappers could get very interesting if you were not ready for them.
It said in the result Olivier Pain was riding a YZF 450 E what is that? Is it the quad engine in a WR frame?

No mate they just have hinges in them that allow them to bend in a crash that would otherwise have lead to a broken lever. They are expensive and are heavier than a standard lever. I would not fit them myself I like the idea of keeping it simple. I always keep spare levers in my pack but have never broken one on a ride. I was just more saying that they looked cool. If you want to make the pull lighter on your bike one thing you should do is dismantle the whole mechanism. Lubricate the cable with a cable lubricant tool that you will find at most bike shops or the Ballards site you were on. I use silicon spray, but I think there are special products designed for this. Also put some grease on the clutch lever hinge bolt. While you have the bolt out make sure the lock nut is working as it was designed and not clamping the perch housing around the lever. Also adjust your clutch so that the take up is closer to the point when the lever is right out and adjust your riding style to suit. Be a bit careful with this as you don’t want it so close that it is engaging the clutch when the lever is right out. Another trick I have seen in ADB is to move your clutch perch further on to the bar. This will mean you will be grabbing the clutch closer to the tip so the pull will be lighter but also longer. This will also reduce the chance of the lever breaking as it will be a bit more out of the way. You might have to change around the switches on your bar to do this. Some times it is not even possible with hot starts, blinker switch blocks, bar mounted open style hand guards etc. Some bikes I have found have very heavy clutches like 09? CRF 450R.(What ever the first EFI one was ) You might need a pivot type lever on that sort of bike to lighten the load. As I don’t know what you current ride is I cant say any of this will apply but I hope this helps. Aaron.

Great report Mick! The log certainly looked daunting. That is funny about Huskybloke who rides a KTM who’s name is Ian as well as Brad. That 449 Husky was very nice looks like we are going back to the fad that side covers be not there or are very small. I think I remember ADB removing the side covers on a KDX in the mid 80,s to give it that look. I also noticed there is no kick start… look after your battery then. Unless it has a kick start and they have gone back to the bad old days of TE410 with the left sided one that goes forward. But no BMW would not do that

Don’t worry about the rocks damaging the engine you should be more worried about protecting it from backyard mechanics  At least in your job you can take it to work and X-ray the engine and see if there is any serious damage!
