That was interesting with that fleet thing. We went to a cat support night and they showed that one piece of dirt the size of an aspro in 205 l drum was enough to inrease wear significantly.I think the major wear would be from dust in the induction. Our Cat engines start to burn oil at about 220hrs just before the service so I guess it needs changing. But my bikes dont start to use it it just looks bad. I will always spend the money on the better oil I just hope the better oil isnt the crap oil in a golden package. Yeah we put bits of magnet in there and some decarbonising degreasing surfactant and that is why the oil is twice as expensive! Just like the girl who gets told by the mechanic that the halogen fluid in her headlights was low. Ok I had better get me some of that! I have no problem with the price after all they use so little. I just dont like getting fleeced by some marketing guy. Because they know you are not going to put ordinary oil in something that you have invested so much time and money maintaining.
My new neighbor has a Dark grey Navara Platinum edition dual cab I dont know what its worth but has 20 or so ks on it hard back looks very nice.It must be about a year old if that. He said he was thinking about sell it. Dont know how that would fit in your price bracket. Could be way more but I dont know what they are worth. PM me if you want me to ask any questions.
TB said his oil looked good after its time was up but like you Roy mine was black as. The WR only holds 1.5 l and the YZ is more like 1 l I bet the XR would hold 2 at least?? Do they run the CRF setup with seperate compartments for the trans/ crank case. I recon most of the black comes from the clutch? But I doubt a different oil would change that.
Sorry to hear about the grandad passing. But being 99 and a motorcyclist he did alright.I love that photo mick! What a classic But I just cant get past the body language of your grandmother. Like she was saying” I thought you said that when you got a new bike you would have to spend less time working on it!” Man I have heard that before. After seeing your shed with the stickers and that, you should get it blown up(the pic not the shed)and on one of those walls that would look great.
Thanks TB The only info I have comes from oil companies.Dont want to be a total cynic but they would probably tell you any thing to get you to pay more for a litre of oil? We have a cummins engine with 19000 hrs of hard work and it has drunk ordinary oil quite happily. It just gets regular services. Would love to have one of those bike tour groups so i could do back to back comparos to sort hype from fact. I am not going to put crap oil my engine still. I wish someone else could put it in their engine and tell me how it went  Not asking too much. Hey boony would you like me to service your bike I will do it for free!

Quote:i work in a local bike shop and people buying stuff over seas is hurting us bad.
what people need to understand is we are not ripping you off!
stuff is cheaper from america simply because they have massive buying power.
the australian motorcycle industry is tiny in comparison to them let alone the world, so obviously they can purchase product in much greater quantities than australian suppliers therefore making it cheaper.
secondly everything is made in china, then american companies buy it from china and our suppliers have to then import it from america where the companies are based ( Fox , Thor etc). everyone along the line needs to make a cut out of it or we all go broke, so it’s not like australian companies are making a killing off it cause thats far from the truth.
our profit margins haven’t changed in years and if anything they have dropped.
so if every one buys shit from the internet, local shops go broke and close, no one can fit your parts, or fix your bike, or spend time giving you advice with your problems,or sell you a new bike, or try on clothing to check sizes before you buy, or return faulty items, or loan you a part to get you out of trouble or any other services your bike shop provides???
i know its tempting to save money, i’m in the same boat. but you have to think of the big picture
this problem is hurting all small busines’s not just the motorcycle industry as all australian dollars at them moment seem to be feeding a downwards american economy that is not helping out australia at all.
The Importers are trying the best they can to compete with the american market because they are suffering aswell but they simply dont have the buying power.
And also all the importers buy there stocks well in advance when the dollar was shit and now that it is in comparison they cant cut all there profits and go broke as there is no point. And its not like america gives them a Rebate when the dollar gets better they just have to wear it and battle through the hard times.
at the end of the day we look after our customers as best we can, espescially loyal customers.
and we all need to make a living somehow.
phil, brock
mud n tar m/cDon’t worry China will take out the middle men. Once the factories are set up they will back door them. Its only a matter of time. I personally buy from bike shops if they support or are involved the local bike racing/trailriding that i do full stop.
Yes I will be there plus Nathan from Peel Irrigation Husky dude.
So much bad news for one report. Very sad to hear. The big C sucks ass we have it in the family and loosing a dog can be like loosing a child. Not fun by any means. Will be thinking of you guys. On a positive note the pics looked great though.

How did you know about??… Bastards!!There will be pay back! You wont know where or when but it will happen. My feeble mind will have to work very long to devise a suitable reply so hope you have a good memory!
Great report Polly ( also boonster and mick etal)I think you took the last pic of my number plate and gay standard mud guard on my bike.I have just bought a Yz one and will mod it with lights etc. and ditch the steel supports. Was fun in the quarry bloody pep makes things look too easy. Thanks everybody for getting that gumby moment. But i did have a few of them. A tip to all people who could ever in the future go on a ride with these guys. Don’t go to bed first as someone could put bread all over your swag so the possums climb on you while you sleep. Thanks guys you are soo funny. What is it with these Old bulls they all sleep on camp stretches or in their great wall caravans etc  Will bring blue circle along for you all next time   Also dont put your beer anywhere near Micks as it will almost certainly end up all over the ground or in the Jatz biscuits  But as we found out it is ok to eat these but you must do it quickly before the soggy sets in! Sorry guys but i did not enjoy kokoda after hitting that log and trying to drive my neck into my lungs. Next time I go im taking a hedger and a quad bike so we could drive a bus down it. Thanks to all.
