Sounds like you have way too many options. I say take the run to Nundle and have a beer with us all. Although if history repeats itself sat night night will be quieter than fri because most of the old bull I know cant back up! (prove me wrong tomorrow!) The bike looks sweet with those hoops. I know Its old but I just got a free copy of trailrider Apr/May with Oct Dirt action. The TR has the story of The Tenere 10,000 km trip. We go riding with those guys all the time. Also Old Bulls Crissy party. Probably old news but get it anyone if you missed it. Aaanyway come to Nundle and Make the boys get on it again!Looks like I asked you Twice.Dam.
More like soft porn than a travel show. That spark plug pump is a good idea. I might get one so I could pump my bike tire up on the trails. I wonder how it would go on a single cylinder :laugh:Might be able to sell them to RXV owners. I also liked the oil storage in the bullbar. Could you imagine someone in their new land cruiser changing the oil in that way on a trip. Trip is the operative word there you would need to drop one just before doing it so you didnt find it so funny.

Boll who are you trying to kid? Remember all that farting going on around the fire! Hey Boony I thought that photo below was you. Then I saw that it had an original headlight and I worked out I was wrong. The wild life must not be attracted to that Banana like it is yours  On a serious note welcome to Old bulls. Would be good to see you on the ride.

Boll the reason there is no bike in the pic is because secretly you were hoping the cells ride will become like the “serious fishing trips” One day there will be no bikes just eskys!!
Well it is all back together. It went on the very first kick. So I was stoked. I kept thinking that I would have stuffed the timing up and I would wreck it when I kicked it over. The ride around the back yard was great. The feeling of riding something you had in bits all over the shed floor is great. The stock exhaust is whisper quiet and the power seems a lot smoother.I had a bit of trouble with one pad size on the middle intake valve. I kept thinking the measurement was .05mm but i think i was forcing it. My gut instinct ended right and i went down 2 pad sizes. This brought it down just under tollerance. Having to take the cams in and out to check afrer changing pads helped with confidence. Although at the time I wished i got it right the first time.I will check the the clearances now on my YZ with no hesitation. I think the wr could have done with a new crank so that will be my next mission. That will be huge. Don’t know if I or my wallet is ready for that just yet. Even if you have minimal mechanical experience you still should be able to check your valve clearances. Then if you feel confident enough change the pads to adjust them. If you want to save a big stuff up go as a team and get some help with someone who has done it before. At least it wont seem all wrong drinking on your own

Bol :woohoo:
I can understand why Bol the last thing i knew you were supposed to go to work at 4:30 am… nobody likes to go to work at that hour! Good to see you changed your avatar back that one suits you better. Get well soon! also Ange is pressuring me to be soft and go to that School Ball too. So you could travel to Upper Horton Pony X and travel back with me. If you are all recovered! Remember if they start feeding you those Panadine forte start eating prunes  And to you Boonster I’m in for next week at the cells! I probably will be ready for my next feed about then!
If anybody is interested this is the latest treatment for Suimin OD. This is not their biggest burger believe it or not!The ride started out with an epic road drip that included standing on the a frame of the bike trailer at 100kph.For the purpose of retaining your sanity we will not go int details here. Bollocks very politely drove so I could lighten the esky. It was dark when we found the camp ground and it was lucky we got there when we did. Boony,Dahmus and Snowy were sitting in the dark and stone cold sober. Somebody had forgot to bring the matches and they were under strict orders not to start the party till we got there. The fire was soon blazing and the smoke seemed to be constantly heading towards Boony. All we had to do was keep our distance and we were sweet. We all hit the sack early(early in the morning) as we had a big ride the next day. The next morning we were treated to the most magnificent sound that a rain forest has to offer….. An XR650 with the throttle frozen in the angry position! Mick covered the following events well so I won’t repeat. The singles we went on were fantastic! The only issue was that you kept wanting to turn around and hit them a bit faster. At one stage I was following Mick who had a very sideways moment on a slippery section. In the excitement of yelling encouraging words I almost repeated his close call. In an attempt to slow the big 650 down I tried for the old log in the crank case trick  Mick carried on as if it hadn’t happened. They grow them tough over here it seems. The view from the top of the look out was fantastic as you can see in the picture
The scenery was good too.
Pep did his usual trick of saturating somebody with the use of a puddle. It would have been really funny if it wasn’t me :silly: My usual nemesis of the creek crossing came back to bite me again. Once again at least it wasn’t done in vein. Bollocks was there to witness the uncoordinated attempt. He did you all proud and laughed himself silly as I dragged my sorry wet but out of the freezing water. :laugh:As the water was so cold Bollocks had little time to get the camera out to please all of you! To add insult to injury Bollocks then climbed the step up out of the creek like a pro…… Prick.
Boony and Snowy dragged us into the enchanted forest just so they could laugh at us getting dragged off the back of the bikes by vines. At one stage we were so far into the jungle that I noticed three red laser dots in the shape of a triangle on Snowy’s back. But luckily Boony knew his way out and the thumping DRZ lead us all to safety. Even though we had escaped the ‘Predator’ we later had to return to retrieve our skin anyway because the vines had ripped it all off  The last day was going really well as you all know until Bollocks had his slide. We limped the crew back to the camp so we could drive home and have the coffee we were originally going for. Bollocks sat back and pretended to be really hurt until we had totally packed up all the gear. It was only then that he resumed breathing without the use of an artificial respirator. We started the arduous journey along the rough road with the patient drifting in and out of consciousness in the passenger seat. He would only awake to inform me that it was not necessary to drive over all the bumps  I now wish we took the Hilux to Wauchoppy for the Teknic treatment.Bollocks has since fronted to the emergency department for an Xray. He was told that the procedure was not possible because blood tests revealed he had recently been exposed to high doses of gamma radiation later traced back to a antique gas lantern  As a result the rest of us are now in isolation. Gingers Creek shop turned on a feast for me to treat the symptoms of Suimin overdose. Once under way Bollocks came under the influence of Ibuprofen and smooth roads and we enjoyed the drive home. A big thanks goes out to Boony and Mick and all the Tamworth guys for such a Great weekend. Once again Bring on Nundle![file name=Doc2.doc size=48640]http://www.obtrailriders.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/files/Doc2.doc[/file]
Thanks for all the help guys got most back together just have to adjust a few shims. But now the job has taken back seat to a ride. This time there will be pics after my last dismal effort. I will take it all back now get in there and have a go yourself. Just make sure your bike is worth sub4k so if you have a stuff up you wont have to ring the banks
While I was doing all this I was unleashing a back up plan. Don’t worry Boony the black beast is serviced and ready to go.
Thanks for the tips Stuart. Why do they want you to torque the bolts then go 1/2 more? Is that to get a crush on the gaskets. I hate doing up bolts on bikes it feels like they are going to let go.I normally do it up till it strips, then back it off half a turn  Now I am trying to get the cam chain on the two cams and the chain is so tight I cant get it over them. The tensioner is not even on the bike  ! Once again the stupid manual does not say how difficult something is. example. Put the tire on the rim insert the mousse tube, then put the other bead in….. Yeah right. I would rather have a crappy book that actually told me how to do things than a really flash one with how to do it in four different languages.
That sounds very expensive! The only reason the RTA are such interesting people towards there customer is because they have no competition. They don’t have to be nice or accommodating because what are you going to do… nothing you cant go to the others there are no others. Although the RTA Lady at Wauchope was nice so I supose they are not all bad.

Got the Piston and Cylinder on. Putting the rings on is not as easy as they make out in the book. I bought a ring compressor tool and it was too long because the stroke is so short. So save your money there. It is possible to have the whole lot come out even when you are up to the oil control ring  The cir-clips on the gudgeon pin I got are just bent pieces of wire. So they are not as nice to put in as a proper cir-clip and look a lot easier to drop into the crank case. And yes do as they say cover it with a rag because I would have lost one down there. At the moment I would say If you are thinking of doing this for the first time don’t. That is if you are not a mechanic of any sort. Sell your bike before it needs itJust about to go out and torque the head down. Also read the manual on your new torque wrench. I played around with the bolt on the end just as I was reading ” Do not adjust the calibration bolt or it will no longer be right” Whaaaaaat!! The stupid thing was only finger tight. It was a Kinchrome.
