Sad to say but ive only ridden a orange bike once for about 5 minutes. 300 exc so i can only really go on what i have read or heard. The owner who stupidly let me ride his ktm loves the bike and he had a few wr 450 before that.I have replaced all the bearings in a linked bike and that is not what you would call fun. The link looks great and allows it to be offset which would allow lots of alternative set ups with the engine, exhaust ie reverse engine layout. Yes yamaha have done it with a link but if another manufacturer does it will they copy the same basic layout. We could all be riding clone bikes but what would we have to argue about then. No orange is the best colour you dont have to wear a safety jacket to sweep while doing the corner man thing… yeah that would be fun  Some people like to ride things that are different just for the sake of being different or they just look cool. Why would people ride a Laverda, or an old te510 with the left sided kickstart that goes forward. Didn’t the ATK 604 (I hope that is the engine size)have a link as the rear shock was on the right side. ADB would bang on about them heaps back in the day. If you want to own a clone go and buy an OdesMCF450-R. We will all probably be on one in 10 yrs any way. I did listen Mr blue when you said about being flung into the trees. So being different in that case could have some hairs on it. But at least you would be different and we could all sign your cast

I had an 02 and I don’t reckon it was dangerous at all. Have ridden linkage bikes that were dangerous. I suppose only the elite can notice the difference PDS/linkage

I guess the word Elite means the most here. I read once that they thought a PDS equiped bike would never go well in SX.Which has been the case until the 350. The every day punter in general would hardly know the difference. Or would extend a PDS shock beyond its comfort zone.
Back to the real issue how many magazines could you say are not swayed by “sponsorship”. Dont bite the hand that feeds you. There are a lot of manufacturers out ther in these comparisons(Yes the husa 2T was not part of a comparo)you can only please one of them. I know long term test bikes get continuous coverage with mods etc. But if they were continuously bagging them they would certainly dry up.

That is rediculous. How much bike can you get for 10 grand… a bloody lot it seems. Looks like a great bike to take to CC and the like .I have notRidden one but i have had a go on a freewind 650 and that hammered! And if it is made in the same joint as adrz you know it will be bulletproof. That is a great site TB i have never been to it before but i will again now. Vince must be loosing the plot because of how well josh is going in the GNCC. If the credic card was not already maxed out after NZ i would have one.

Haaaa! I would love it if that was the case but golf is the only word he knows now. He has even bought a block that backs on to the longyard golf course. That will be me in about 20 years but my house will back on to Dirtbike Territory or Phillip Island

That fire must have been pumping out the heat, although you probably need it down that way.

Would have been some boys thought they were very funny after putting that bike up there. Glad they weren’t my mates because my mates wouldn’t help get it back down.

How many riders do they get/accept?

I was thinking the same thing about the bike Roy then i saw the Bobcat!!Looks like a great ride. I thought our fire at Norh Star was good but that gives me something to aim for. Nice post Riggs!

Thanks TB service with a smile. You will so make me sound like an expert. But he is an old bugger getting into dirt bikes after the kids took his life away  So he will be a great candidate for latest Old Bull Member. So he can research the site in his own time.

Im with Bol on this one what are you on boony. But seeing everyone is dooing it. Yes ange puts up with the kids on her own a lot more than she should. But i just tell her that boony organises the rides so he is really the problem not me  While i ride in 10 days i will be thinking of her looking after the girls at the ballet. I was so happy to have something on. Yes Ange is the best. And the boss sadly :(

Have heard about people putting them on commodore 450’s to stop them boiling at the lights. You would want to be all the time riding some pretty technical slow lots of clutch crap to need it i reckon.

Before anybody sayes anything yes there have been posts in the past about this but this one has a different spin.I know there are lots of schools of thought on replacing sprockets and chains as a set. As moto once said in a perfect world yes you should replace them as a set. I can see why the front sprocket would wear out quicker than the rear as its teeth are used three times more often than the rear. So realy you should change the front more than the rear. The other day a guy told me you should buy the best sprockets you can afford (chain gang etc) and replace the chain when it becomes stretched. He said he looked after a fleet of bikes on a farm and he tried lots of combinations and that way gave him the longest life. He also said that although o ring chains etc are good at keeping the crap out of the links this trait also stops the lube getting in to prevent wear. I spose different conditions will effect this a lot ie sand, road use high speed etc. Just putting this info out there to hear if you think there is any truth in it. This bloke knows his stuff and has been in the game for a long time. To anyone who is from up here it was doc.

That is great roy should be a lot of fun when we go there next. I liked the endurocross track and these two obstacles will be great fun. The rut in the middle was the first thing that caught my attention. Im sure that i will be able to remove it from my mind as i attempt it… I hope! Great story Roy. Hey can the Moree motorcycle club get a lend of the bridge and the teeter totter to cover the flood water at pony x

Checking the valves is easy if you use the workshop manual. TB’s offer of the help and a few beers sound the go though. What you could learn by watching would be heaps quicker than reading about it. By the way you havent recently fitted an alloy bash plate on that bike as that deflects the sound of the engine. I have seen heaps of people who have fitted plates and have commented about it. Might be way off but it was worth a try.

Thanks mal I tried to say tanks in the other post but the cursor could not be placed anywhere further than about half way down the message. If you grab the side bar it flicks straight back again? I also tried to write my reply in red but it did not work. I hope the engine work goes better thn my posts.
