So there is a couple of 07 Wr250’s here on the site for sale at the moment…
Should I look at them??? :blink:Gents, Many thanks for all your help.
I got the call from Nick re the goss on the bike.
From all told “its the biz”
Now its time to do a deal.
Again, a huge thanks to both Nick and STM.
I love the OBT spirit.
Very happy to be part of the crew.
Hopefully I can do a deal and get this baby to Sydney.Cheers
ActionNick J,
Wow, if your in the area and close by and can have a squizz, that would be great.I spoke to Lee a few weeks ago, but haven’t made an offer or expressed any great interest as such.
I’m not overly mechanically minded so any info good and bad would be great.
With a can of Bike shine and a a decent camera, all bikes look the goods on the net.
Cheers
ActionCorey/Adam, I had a very hard ride, got lost (11.5 hours in the saddle) very technical (i’m only a grade 3) had to pick the F thing up about 6 times in an hour and I was absolutely r@@ted.
Someone has mentioned I should look at something with under 4000kms. ??
I’m not sure why axel said I should pass on the Husky though.
Also looking for something reasonably newish 08,09,10 model etc.Cheers
ActionTrailboss wrote:Sulphur in diesel was dropped to under 10 ppm (parts per million) as of a few years ago because of exhaust aftertreatment systems. The sulphur becomes soot and after a regeneration is left as ash. Ash will eventually block the DPF (diesel particulate filter) meaning it will need to be cleaned by the dealer or in some cases replaced depending on the system. Sulphur also affects DOCs (diesel oxidation catalyst) used with ad blue (urea) after treatment systems, sulphur was used for lubrication in fuel. if you always use a known brand fuel which as pointed by SB can come from any refinery you should be fine.
Common rail fuel filters normally filter as low as 2 microns (a micron is a millionth of a metre) so that’s pretty small, never pre fill the fuel filter as you will put unfiltered fuel in the system always prim it through. If you install an extra fuel filter do it before the OEM filter and use a 10 to 15 micron water separator style filter.
Also check the engine oil you use if you have a DPF as the high detergent oils also block the DPFs, special spec oil is required. Thanks TB but is all that in english?? For a simple man like me it may as well have been in greek.
Pic of the new unit attached.

Cheers boys,
I’ll steer clear of the cheapies.
I’ll get myself a “Japadaptor” water trap (as per Mickmeld) and ensure very regular servicing including fuel filter (as per Buzz)Thanks
ActionI have removed the bash plate and the gear lever, also dropped the oil from the crank case and the frame.
See attached photo re the cracks, there is two photos and also [strike]two[/strike] three cracks.
I am hoping you can confirm that metal epoxy will do the trick.
The second pic chows the DRZ ignition key for a little bit of perspective. Thanks again.

Cheers Adam,
I will get a pic tomorrow, but what you have said makes sense re the epoxy.
Thanks
ActionRighto guys thanks for the heads up.
I think I’ll run 14psiF/12psiR.
But we have raised several other questions if you will.
I run a VeeCo UHD tube (from Suttos) on the rear.
Not sure about the front tube but am willing to change to the VeeCo UHD tube, but going off what White Rocket said
“ps have used a kenda carlsbad front before shocking tyre(like the back ones but) if you got the cash get rid of it they last for ever to so if want to where it out first it will take a while”I should upgrade the front tyre, but what sort of tyre should I run up front??
I’m only a very average rider, Grade 3 on a good day, on a DRZ 400.The other question I have is about the lock nut position on the valve stem. Some say to have it snug, other loose. What is the G-O?
Thanks again for your help
Cheers
ActionHey Mate,
I hope you have a great day, enjoy….
Cheers
ActionGents, Many Many Thanks.
I had a top weekend. Camping in the Capertee carpark on Fri night certainly wasn’t a highlight.
But those memories were soon evaporated actually frozen off.
Some great riding.
Nice banter around the fire.
Its always good to get some nice solid mechanical advice, I’m only new on the tools so i picked up so good tips (Cheers Adam, Corey, Bigger Al and Rebore)
BTW can anyone give me advice on replacing a HEAP of spokes on a rear wheel?Again thanks to all the organisers, the lead riders, the sweeps. Not to forget the support vehicle crew, and all the wives that let us out for a weekend
Also a big thanks to the sponsors and TB’s gift of the gab to get the goodies. TB, do you think you could approach Bundy to come on board as a sponsor???:cheer:
I hope all the money raised helps those that need it, even the guy that’s too modest to put his hand up.
A speedy recovery for Mick (poor bastard)
Lets hope Aido’s mum is OK
I look forward to doing it all again hopefully real soonCheers

Honda Mechanics
Mechanic vs Doctor
A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Honda XR600 when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop.
The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come take a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the garage “Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?”
The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the XR. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked,
“So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new.
So how can I make $45k a year (Remember he’s a Honda mechanic
), a pretty small salary, and you get the really big bucks, $500K when you and I are doing basically the same work?”
The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic…
”Try doing it with the engine running.”
OK so I have been to Louee, how does it compare????
Cheers
