I now have the Uniden UH076SX radio, 5 watts and waterproof to 1m for 1/2 hour. If the radio fails then the chances are I’ve drowned

The range of UHF is pretty good and there’s now problems with re-connecting. They only use their power to transmit, they last ages on standby (days), and to avoid annoying chatter you can go to sub channels.

    Welcome Old School,

I ride down your way when working on the roads down there. :woohoo:

Did a ride from Tumbarrumba to Talbingo Dam and got chased by some brumbies

Also riden the Carabost, Mundaroo and Mannus to Tumbarrumba :)

When the Holbrook bypass gets a little further along I’ll be back, you can show us a little more of Bago :)

Pity I missed it, however I now have maximum brownie points so bring on the next one

Did you have any rain? The boss and I drove from Nundle via the Berry Patch to Gloucester on Saturday and had rain the whole way

At least there was no dust, and I couldn’t stop that silly yellow light on the dash from flashing

    Timd505,

I’ve got just over 3000 k’s on mine now and I still love it. It’s a joy to ride and am always looking for rides to keep on enjoying it.

It’s best points come through in the tight stuff or when you need to man handle it. Nice and easy (compared to a DRZ anyway).

Apart from the filter issue which wouldn’t have been an issue if KTM noted it in the manual and servicing schedule, all has been good.

It is a bit fiddly removing the spark lead to get in to check the valve clearances but everything else is easy to get to for servicing.

If you get one check the wheelbearing seals for grease they were a little shy putting it in on mine.

    Hey there Unit,
They are usually sold as a kit, Sutto’s sells them, and it includes the O-ring, Spacer and seal. The spacer is required as the seal eventually wears a groove in the spacer. It doesn’t come with the washer from memory.

    Cheers,
    Lefty

I would also replace the spacer as if it has been spinning it may have worn and now not as wide allowing the sprocket to be closer to the crank case. This loss of tension is a big problem for DRZ400’s. If the sprocket and spacer lose tension on the shaft shoulder or bearing, the movement can stuff further in the gearbox. Don’t know if it does on Kato’s though but you don’t really want to find out either.

I’ve found that recently I can only post pictures as attachments.

If you delete the “insert” part and leave the attachment bit your message should re-appear to the rest of us ;)

    No guarantee though :P
