I need 13 of us at a minimum. The most important thing you have failed to mention Mick in that, us being OBT taking this on we have to have 13 bikes minimum all weekend again all weekend. This means no heart muscles, sore thumbs, getting wiped out on the piss the night before etc causing people to bail out as its a paid undertaking we have committed to. Just putting it out there

Sam and I read the criteria
Barring injury, or mechanical failure and not being able to source an alternative ride, we’ll be there for the two whole days
And on that note we can bring along a spare bike if necessary (A mate has left his DRZ400 in my garage for the last two months and it could use a ride)
And if we’re really desperate I could bring along my 1980 XL250s, still starts every time :silly:
That being said Mick, assess the track this weekend and see if we’re likely to come unstuck, and if so order a few extra bodies to cover unforeseen circumstances, and I can bring both bikes and a CR85 as well if necessary.
Can’t wait :woohoo:
Adam.
Riverright,
If you can cruise around your max torque you get the biggest bang for your buck.
On a XR250R thats @ 6700 rpm I don’t know if the “Y” was setup differently.
If your cruising around 6000rpm you should be fine.
It is a single cylinder 250 after all.
I know cars cruise at lower revs but they also have longer strokes and bigger bores.
My DRZ400 feels fine @ 6000 to 7000 rpm, although its redline is 10000 rpm.

Ummm Adam, sorry to burst the bubble for you but that isn’t where we are staying the area we will be in is several km’s past the resort. We have our lodging in a bunk house that was built in the 70’s. It is in a top spot though.
I had already packed my bag with my tuxedo for dinner and smoko jacket for casual conversation at the lounge
Knew it was too good to be true
Oh well maybe next time
I’ll now have to assume my other identity

I’m sure the traffic plan is for vehicle movements to and from the property not parking arrangements once on the property.

Hope your having a great day :woohoo:
I’m still recovering from our last singles ride
Now I know why, you young wipper snapper

Whilst we are asking about technical details about auto clutches I would like to ask if there is increased wear on the clutch throw out bearing on the expanding clutch plate types. The system relies on the clutch being held partially disengaged by cable tension allowing the expanding clutch ring to do its thing when the engine revs are low. When the revs are high does the expanding ring expand enough to release the load off the clutch throw out bearing?
I still see importance in selecting the correct gear for the terrain being travelled as a too high a gear with low revs and a slightly slipping clutch on fewer wear surfaces is likely to promote faster wear and as mentioned before more heat.
My 20 cents worth, and I have more coins in my pocket
PS I like the idea
I too like technical advances that can make riding more enjoyable
And I need all the help I can get
Adam.
Keep us posted on how it goes Lefty
Also how much did it cost and from where did you get it?
Adam.
Actually The Chad’s bike is a XL250R  but you get the idea
Adam.
Merv put a 280 kit into his XR250L just before he sold it to The Chad, and it was The Chad that helped Merv do the work.
Have a chat to them as this was a fairly recent event so the memories are still fresh
The Chad is new to the dirt so he isn’t using all the available power on the dirt yet, although he does ride it to work every now and then and I’m sure he would give it a bit on the road

If it was tight from the word go then probably corrosion
Nothing like a bit of lubrication to get things going
If it was option B then you know the answer
At least with option B screwing the stud all the way in is an option.
If all else fails, when in doubt drill out
