cheers mate, although money is an important factor in my choices, its not that important.
i am keen on a brand newy.
ive looked further into road registerable bikes, and i am leaning towards a DRZ400E
mud and tar in wauchope have offered me $9000 on road.
any known issues with these?also, rumour has it, that if your 30 and have a full car drivers license, you can just do your bike Ls and then go to full bike license,,,, is this correct?
rta site does mention that 25yo can skip the P2 phase (do Ls and red Ps only, then full license)
i am considering going for my bike Ls during the xmas break, but if the above is true i may aswell wait till my 30th in januaryjust a quick q,,,,
how much does rego and ctp cost you per year?
no accidents,
no fines (one about 6years ago)
full car license (gold)yeah thanks guys,
i think im going to have to go the rego way, i dont want to be getting fines.
ive just read up about the process of getting my ls, seems taree is the closest training centre, but its really only down the road.
i wont be doing it till after xmas, so ill keep you all up to date, and really look forward to catching up with you all one day soon.
i am sorry if i stood on any toes.
until then i think ill still hang around the forum, getting to know everyone, etc.
ill be looking further into the 250s suggested, ill prob start with a cheap used bike first. i wont be going the road only bike path, itll be road trail.
thankyou again for all your help and welcomes.
jason.thankyou very much for all the warm welcomes.
i really do hate to be a stick in the mud, but a regod bike really isnt an option for me.
we have 2 cars, one my04 astra i finished paying off last year which i gave to my gf,
and a my10 lancer vrx i just started paying off,
if i was to get a regod bike id be riding it to work, missus driving one car to work, and the other car just sitting there except for on rainy days when id drive instead of ride. probably a waste in rego, and if i was to sell one of the cars my missus would have to drive me to work on rainy days, and thatd be a bitch considering we work conflicting work hours.one of the positives of getting a new bike was when the girls got used to the chinese bike they could start riding the bigger bike too, and the thought of snapped off blinkers and smashed headlights isnt pretty.
i understand what you mean about the fines, when i was young one of my mates got caught on a bike, fine was a bit over $1k if i remember correctly.
seems i have alot to think about, seems like you cant even have fun in the bush on a bike without getting screwed by the gov these days.
either pay reg or pay fines, either way your a slave to them.
i thought being out of the city areas, the cops might be a bit lax.its hard enough deciding what bike lol, let alone deciding whether a reg bike or not.
i dont have a bike license, ive considered it a few times before, but i really dont like the idea of riding a bike on the roads, your kinda at the mercy of everyones elses stupidity.
do you guys only allow licensed riders to ride with you?thankyou for your welcome.
riding to date, i owned a dt175 when i was 16, it had been thrashed and probably ran like a 50. i rode it for about 6months.
i had a quick go on my mates rm125 a few years back and crapped myself everytime it hit power band.
other than that its just been about 4hrs on the chinese 125.height, i can only tiptoe on a yz250, almost flat footed on the 230s mentioned in my original post.
weight, not sure prob about 85kg.my plans for riding are just to enjoy the bush. i also have a few mates in campbelltown who ride fairly often and ill join them say twice a year.
at a guess i think the most riding ill do will be a few hours once every fortnight, but during xmas hols it might be more.as for budget, at first i was thinking of a used yz125 or rm125, then i spotted a demo model on the net for $6k, so i considered that for a week or so, but im not entirely sure i want a race type bike, more a cruisy bike with power if i decide i want it.
i think id put my budget at $6k, ill be getting finance, yamahas 5.99% is attractive, but i do prefer the look of the honda.a pregnant woman, severly overdue with triplets, goes to see her doctor for help.
the doctor hands her 3 ball bearings, telling her to swallow them before bed.
sure enough, the next day the woman gives birth to 3 healthy beautiful boys.
they have a normal childhood, with no repercussions from the ball bearings.13 years later one of her sons come running into the house very distressed,
(son) mum, guess what just happened!!!
(mum) what happened dear?
(son) i was under the house taking a pee and a ball bearing dropped out.
(mum) oh, its fine dear, its all part of growing up
so the son goes back out to play10 minutes later the 2nd son comes rushing into the house panicking
(son) mum, guess what just happened!!!
