    Rider 911 has been experimenting with his own custom sized tennis balls in the rear tyre and in this case it went spectacularly wrong as you can see!

    How good’s this Muc-off sponsorship, the bike’s cleaned before it has even stopped flying!

    From what I’ve read it has more than enough guts and it’s more dirt orientated so I think it’d be at the level where it’s becoming too much power.

    Thanks again everyone for this debate and help, Scott and AB very much appreicated

    Again the pillion seating is a major problem with the 690 as well as the cost of bits and pieces but I will be test riding one shortly just to confirm

    Thanks :)

    NPs B) Unfortunately the reason I can’t justify any of these bikes is because my pillion in life won’t be a pillion in Australia which is why the 690 would suit me – can see why it doesn’t suit you though!

    Its crazy but whenever we go o/s we typically hire a step through which comes with a crappy misfitting brain bucket and the boss is happy to spend the day with me exploring wearing shorts and a shirt and I’m talking about riding through vietnam, thailand and amalfi coastline where the traffic is dangerous! Get her home and she won’t entertain the thought of riding with me!
    Before you all say just get out on your own, I’d be allowed to buy an ADV and go but it would eat into my time in which I prefer to ride the TM. What I really want is a hobby we can share :(

    Almost got her talked into SCUBA – that’ll be fine by me :D

    Back on topic – I’m the type that doesn’t like to compromise on things unless I absolutely have to so I’d probably beg and/or borrow to get the F800 or just steal Mal’s ;)

    Is the F650 on the list also or is MY2007 too old? Nice looking bikes I reckon.

    Nah those pics were posted by mortaygo along with the following text:

    * Safari tank
    * Barrett Muffler – Akro mapping
    * Uniflow foam airfilter
    * Scotts Dampener and risers
    * Side stand eliminator
    * Pivot Pegs
    * Renenzo racing seat
    * Cyclops Halogen light
    * KTM 690 screen
    * fuel pump Profil filter and filler cap filters (call me paronoid)
    * billet alloy fuel filler neck
    * KTM panner frames
    * B&B rear rack
    * B&B case saver/sprocket cover
    * TT folding brake pedal tip
    * TT rear disc protector
    * I also have the power setting permanently on highest power
    * B&B alloy bash plate
    * Heavier fork and shock springs, racetech gold valves, low friction fork seals, softer base valves in forks (same as My KTM950 for a plush inital action)

    Issues to date –

    * exploded rear chain guard (trimmed it down and left it on)
    * cracked brake/tail light – got a new one under warrenty
    * fan switch rubbed through radiator – got a new one under warrenty
    * high pressure fuel line quick release came off and stranded me (now has a clear hose sheath zipped tied on (to protect it from rubbing through on the frame)

    So really on the big scheme of things nothing much gone wrong for a bike I ride fairly hard and ticks lots of boxes for me.

    I have only done 5500ks so far.

    If I could justify owning one of these I’d be riding it back from townsville right now

    What about a 640adv – they seem priced really well.

    Is the 990adv too big for what you want? There’s a nice one on ADV I’ll post a link.

    I’d probably by a KTM690R and spend the change getting it set up for longer runs but what do I know.

    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=501060

    p.s I’ve been calling it the ten-eer but I watched a review on the super tenere and the aussie bloke called it the teneray
