You could always download it to try it out then buy it if it’s worth the $$$ I’m pretty sure it has been uploaded as a torrent if you look around.

I’ve heard that if you can get one of the local shops to help out they can put it in a newly delivered bike’s crate and take advantage of the fact that bike transporters are already dropping in there plus with it in a crate you don’t necessarily need a bike transporter.

In case it wasn’t clear, it wasn’t just the angles of the tabs that were out of alignment, the tabs mustn’t be evenly spaced around the rings so you have to rotate the top ring till the tabs lines up with the bottom ring’s tabs and even then they’re not lined up spot on so the spreader plate is on a slight angle which is why I thought it could use a weld to stiffen it.

STM, I don’t want to be a negative prick and encourage the discussion but IMO if we want the ADR’s changed and manufacturers involved it won’t happen in our lifetimes. IMO First step would be introducing it to clubs and then make it a registration requirement of bush users. Too many 4wd owners have no inclination to ever get on a firetrail to bother trying to get them on board and actually contribute.

It’d be a good concept but you could never ride assuming that it was working because as per the weekend’s reports there’s too many unregistered riders and then you’ve also got the 4wds out there.

If someone came up with a solid plan for it I reckon it’d be helpful though.

Really I think that the registration system needs a complete overhaul, especially in NSW. Bush users should be registered to use the bush and the funds from that registration should only be allotted to the services that manage and police that area. This would also make it possible for all bush users to be aligned regarding a set of “rules of the tracks” such as transponders, marked tracks in built up areas etc. though keep in mind these are just ideas that go behind the principle and I don’t see their details as being the critical factor.

We can’t afford to play to the lowest common denominator (being unregistered riders) otherwise we’ll let our sport’s image go to ruin IMO. Show that we’re responsible by doing the right thing and being proactive otherwise the authorities will simply put it in the too hard basket and use these incidents as more fuel to get us out of the bush :(

As good as they are I think even the bush patrols tarnish the sport’s image unfortunately because the general public see that the police are out booking illegal trailriders and develop a frame of mind that bike riders are doing the wrong thing since they don’t have any frame of reference regarding what constitutes legal activities so we’re all “noisey outlaws destroying the environment”!

I think the bigger clubs and retailers need to proactively represent the sport and demonstrate what the good guys are doing to protect the sport’s future and integrity with responsible riding and openly consult with the authorities to develop a mutually agreeable future.

Going by the pics you guys have put at least one of these together, did you have any issues? Mine took a few trial fits to find a top ring/bottom ring rotation alignment that was close to lining up the connection tabs and all of the bolts had to be lightly threaded prior to tightening because it had to flexed the tabs to line up.

I’ll probably get a bit of weld run along the tabs to stiffen it up for the long haul too.

Whatever you do don’t google “wireless speakers” you’ll just end up getting a simple answer without all the fun of being told you’re a non-showering git.

That sounds like normal behaviour. What mal is saying if I read correctly is that you can bump start them but you need to be rolling fast enough to get sufficient centrifugal force.

I had a bit of a look around and it sounds like the TTR50 and CRF50 use similar trannies and I think it’d be a combo of a sprag clutch and an overrun clutch which provides the engine braking.
