    My prognosis is weak spark.

It wasn’t immediately after this puddle but a short while after it the bike bogged on a steep incline and I found that it would idle fine but under load it would bog if I gave it pretty much anything less then wide open throttle. We dropped the carby drain bowl out and it appeared clean so I reinstalled it and we kept on. Moto checked the air mixture screw because I thought it may have backed itself out but it was fine. We tried 2 different plugs and still no good. Checked the spark and found it had none. I checked all of the wires and the connections looked fine except I knew that there was two wires sitting free where the switch block got smashed and the kill switch was on there. It would seem they’d be the obvious cause only that the bike ran fine for some time after the switch block parted ways with the bike.

p.s. I laid down about 5 times throughout the day – only good one was the rock drop was quite interesting as I was in the air long enough to wonder if I was going to break something when I landed :P

That’s awesome! :woohoo: I always thought that it was best to give it a fair bit with those sort of puddles so you keep momentum and create a wake around the bike but the boys were saying I gave it a bit too much curry :p

I’m guessing this may be what caused my bike to cark it but I’m still not sure what the problem is I also ripped the switch block apart when I did my superman but the wires appear to be in tact.

I gave both my bikes a bath this afternoon and kicked the TM over. It sounded as though it had no spark on most kicks then a couple were ok and it fired then idled for about 20s and then stalled again. So the symptom is intermittent spark – Probably a compromised wire somewhere in there and I’ll most likely try and find it myself while sorting out what I’m going to do with that switch block.

I really need to spend some more time on this bike to learn how to ride it without flogging it and myself. I still haven’t mastered use of the rear brake and was often giving it too much throttle (but it’s fun!) and came unstuck on some ruts. Razorback keeps claiming me because I’m not settled controlling the bike and I’m not flowing into the steep section smooth enough. The movie will confirm it for me but I think each time it has been the lead up that stuffed me and the drop just finishes me off and makes it look spectacular.

I haven’t watched the videos yet but will upload them tomorrow and I’m pretty sure it should include my stage dive, Moto’s rock climb, this mud fest and many other great shots.

I’m pretty well convinced that I’m cursed somehow. Don’t get me wrong, I know it could be worse if it was me that kept getting broken rather than my bike but I’m really being tested for commitment with this shit.

Thanks also to murph for leading gary out in the morning. I had a chat with him in the day and he said he was going home to ice it up. I was telling the guys on the weekend that his road bike has been dropped or knocked over about 5 times and he’s only done about 1000kms I think.

    Cheers.

Thanks for another great ride Murph and thanks Dude for sweeping. The boys did what they could to help me and I’m glad you didn’t cut it short for me because I would’ve felt like shit for ruining it.

Big thanks to Moto for coming in and getting me without a slight murmur of fuss.

I rang my wife while I was sitting around but then stupidly left my phone in the back of the ute so I missed her calls and she started to get a little worried. She told me the only reason wasn’t panicking was that she knew I was riding with the old bulls.

Gotta love the old bull spirit – especially when you make a habbit of breaking down in the middle of the bush!

Written to the tune of Business time by Flight of the conchords

    Aww yeah
    That`s right baby.
Girl, today we`re gonna go riding. You know how I know, baby? `Cause it`s saturday And saturday is the day that we ride. Sunday is the day that we go and visit your mother, but Saturday is the day that we ride. `Cause everything is just right conditions are perfect. There`s nothing good on TV. Conditions are perfect. Your wife leans in close and says something sexy like, “I might go to the shops I’ve got your credit card.” I know what you`re trying to say baby. You`re trying to say, “Oh, yeah. It`s business time. It`s business time.”
    It`s business.
    It`s business time.
That`s what you`re trying to say you`re trying to say let`s get down to business it`s business time.
    It`s business.
    It`s business time.
Next thing you know we`re in the shed setting up our bike. That`s all part of it, that`s foreplay. Then you go sort out your missus. That`s not part of it but it`s still very important. Then we`re in the shed again. You`re wearing that ugly old baggy t-shirt from that team building exercise you did for your old work. And it`s never looked better on you.
    Oh, team building exercise `99.
Oh, you don`t know what you`re doing to me.
I put on my riding pants but trip over them `cause I already got my boots on. But I turn it into a sexy dance.
Next thing you know an hour has passed and I`m armoured from head to toe and you know when I`m all kitted up what time it is? it`s time for business. It`s business time.
    It`s business.
    It`s business time.
You know when I`m in my riding gear it`s time for riding that`s why they call it riding gear!
    It`s business.
    It`s business time.
    (Beags solo)
    Oh.
    Ooh, trail riding.
    Trail riding for two.
    Trail riding for two minutes.
When it`s with me you only need two minutes, `cause I`m so intense. Two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven. Trailboss says something like, “Is that it?” I know what you`re trying to say. You`re trying to say, “Aww yeah, that`s it.” Then you tell me you want some more. Well I`m not surprised. But I`m quite sleepy. [/solo]
    It`s business.
    It`s business time.
Business hours are over. Right, right.
    It`s business.
    It`s business time

Judging by the number of people going and the number of posts in this thread I’m guessing Murph has been getting a few PMs about the ride. Could you guys just post up instead? I understand that some might be shy but it helps build the ride up and puts a bit less pressure on the organiser because other people can help field the questions you might be asking and once they’re answered on the board some of the other blokes might have had the same questions and it puts them at ease.

Hmmm 4 scoops of coffee after giving it up for 4 months is quite a hit – sure gets the blood pumping! :D

You can download the owner’s manuals from the ktm site. Maybe not the service manual though which is very helpful.

I’d be keen to carpool and the ute has a towbar if it’s convenient for you beags. I’m in town at newcastle – I can’t recall where you are.

Where do you live beags? If you do the picking up and dropping off you’re welcome to chuck your gear in my ute.

I believe that Suttos adjusted the price to suit the current Aussie dollar after there was a bit of a spray on DBW about it not following the changing dollar. A good move I reckon – I don’t know of any other retailer in the industry that has done that.

I know the area but haven’t ridden in there ;)

I’m very curious now about why they ran the 530.
