I’ll probably just buy one of the ballards HD alloy pipe protectors – I’m still not sure though because I think it I had a protector on this ride it would’ve just bent the whole pipe. It was a steep ledged downhill and I locked up and stalled then the weight and momentum of the bike would’ve dropped on the pipe on a rock as I went off the cliff :p
I don’t expect to be falling like that too often even though I did similar 2mins after – I’ve set the bike up now though so not locking up the rear accidentally and Murph helped me get it idling.
Could you do me a favour and set your gopro up to record it – I’m at work and need some laughs
I think I saw this and was considering it as well then I remembered that I couldn’t sleep in it when the missus kicked me out for buying a 3rd bike
I saw a pic of a blokes leg after a kick starter kicked back and fwoar it wasn’t good! Filletted his calf muscle completely :puke:
The seat on my DRZ is too high so this is how I get on it until Dan learns how to fix it :p
Never skip ahead when working through the biker’s karma sutra or things can go very wrong for those involved
Good luck all

I thought of that as soon as I looked at the pic I just now got around to digging the old ‘toon out
Speaking of loctite – the rear brake step plate was loose and we didn’t have an allen key small enough! Lucky they used nyloc (sp?) nuts so it didn’t come off and I’ve since tightened. Good way for me to learn that 2 smokes need a bit of tightening occasionally :p
I’m definitely sure this was the right bike for me, it’s powerful but still light and very tractable in all situations. I’ve tried the different map settings and I can’t feel the difference. I also prefer the torque controller on 1 which is the stock setting because the power is more linear and therefore predictable and useable.
I just need to get a lot of trail time to build my own skills
I liked your idea so I gave it a try Mal :p
p.s I got 15mins of footage that I’ll upload today but it’s not great I think.
Adjusted the rear brake down for yesterday’s ride and it was a lot better but I need to lift it back up a little now. Idle was perfect as well so down hills were a lot easier. Probably also made easier by being able to actually see where you’d end up if you fell too, funny how that will distract you!
I’m definitely keen to run it again though Murph – can’t let it have the better of me!
This is heartbreaking to watch. This guy must’ve been madly desperate or just plain mad

It’s a new bike not a new born! I bought it to enjoy it and that’s what I’ve done for the last two days looking like this guy inside my helmet
Of course I didn’t buy it to belt it up and it’s a pretty funny coincidence that I did that the first ride out but what’s even funnier is that I dropped it along the road before I even got it into the bush! What I wanted to do and should really have done is take it out for a few easy rides first to get it set up right and then tackle the heavy stuff. I was just too eager to ride and that’s the way the cards fell.
p.s. Chicks dig scars :p
Bike ran great today without a worry. I used the choke to kick it over then turned it off straight away and then kept a bit of revs in it till it warmed up. Absolutely loved it today and although I was a bit tired to use the power all day I was getting cocky with it a bit and lofting the front which was an absolute effort with the 250. Very confidence inspiring bike in standard trim. I’ll do a quick report on today once I’ve uploaded the videos and then during the week I’ll do a bit of a review on the bike.
Yeah mate will take some getting used to but I do like the power delivery and the handlind is great. I was definitely the limiting factor today and I’m sure my bike is less impressed with me than I am with it
