My biggest ongoing problem with the leatt is that my alpine stars spine protector pushes it up causing the same problem. The only solutions that I’ve found so far are don’t wear the suit (not happening) or wear my back pack with the straps sitting over the leatts side lugs to hold it down in place. With the latter I forget its there mostly.
The other problem is the size of your neck while its on. This means you have to modify pretty much anything you want to wear over the top. I was planning on doing a review on the Ogio flight vest but I tried it on with my leatt last night and the rear neck line is too high with the brace so would need to be sliced open like my armour and jersey but I don’t think its a good idea.
I’ll still do up my own thread though and it’ll be offered up for someone else to try. Shame it looked the goods
Was it making any noise like the piston was colliding with the valves?
Could be any one or a combination of:
Bent valves
Damaged head
damaged piston
damaged boreGood luck with it.
That’s an incredible deal I thought dyno runs alone were way more than that!
Which pic?
Paging Mr Rat!
I don’t think it takes a lot of effort from what I’ve read its just leaning/turning as you approach the lip and turning it back to flatten out. Of course those are just words and executing it would be another story :p
I reckon unloading the suspension wouldn’t have enough effect due to the speeds they’re carrying through the bigger jumps.
It wasn’t the kwaka factory team it was their superbike team so I’m guessing it was only support and never intended to be a long term arrangement. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been easy leaving BMW mid season so he probably just took whatever could let him see the season out.
I remember that it was a cracker! With any luck he pushes to get the 350excf set up then they’d have to start selling them to the public! Or does that rule not apply to the WEC???
Landing is the part I always manage. Its having the wheels under me that presents the problem.
In all seriousness my cousin used to fancy himself as the next pastrana and was silly enough to pull the big jumps until he had two serious incidents. The first was a can-can only he couldn’t get his leg back over and a copper that saw it happen thought he would’ve been dead from the impact. Next big one finished him, came up short on a big set of triples and smashed both feet and ankles
To all planning on going out make sure you ring Daniel and confirm your position because it’ll be a busy day and I’m sure they’re limited to how many riders they can accept. That said, if you’re keen I’m sure some punters will get on the turps the night before and not show up so you could chat with Daniel and show up with fingers crossed.
Would be a great day to get onto if your trying to pick your next bike or just want to get an idea what they’re like.
November 25, 2009 at 11:38 pm in reply to: 2009’s Best ride you had / went on rode/ ripped up #162798Being new and improving (at least in confidence) with most rides I found that they just kept getting better! Best weekend was the recent TW run on saturday and then DanD’s on the sunday because that was my first double shift and despite my bike not lasting the day I lapped it up and enjoyed every minute of both days until my bike died.
Best ride for me was probably taking the group from the pines to Jiliby and back because it was the first ride I had reasonably confidently led though I did cramp up about halfway through the day.
Honorable mentions go to:
My first Old bull ride which was on anzac day. RIDE REPORT HERE
Running around kitchener with P-dub back a while. RIDE REPORT HEREHere’s the thing Diddel, this is the intrawebs – you need thick skin to survive at the best of times but if you fire from the hip and lead with your chin then you’re going to need that thick skin, a great sense of humour and on top of all that, the ability to communicate well enough to allow those that don’t know you from a pair of skidded undies in the bush understand when you’re ‘avin a larf
So far you’re making yourself look very wet behind the ears and as second hand as your bike
Bloody hell I hope you had the damper on doing that speed mine gets the jitters around 110 and up then my eyes open so wide I think they drag more than the brakes!
How’ve yours held up menace? Mine look pretty chewed after about 5 rides. Maybe I’m doin it wrong
I will be mate, I’m sorting out what I’ll be riding next year then I’ll break out the calender and get in early to book out some weekends!
Another big well done to Rat and the helpers too! Great reports guys I’m psyched to get to my first race. I used to water ski race as a younger fella and I remember the awesome nerves before the race and even puked a couple of times! Can’t wait to relive those moments as an adult though someone please remind me to warn whoever holds my bike :p
