Stay off the flag poles Mick!

Was that at Homebush?? I went to a Crusty show there in 2007 and was really surprised how well the crowd behaved, inside and out. I saw them again at Port Macquarie last year and the crowd was just as good.

Yeah it was mick. To be fair it could’ve been just one group causing all the trouble but I know that’s most of what I remember. It would’ve been back in 05 or so I think.

    Welcome mate ;)

I reckon you blokes with your nice new bikes are just finding your way on here looking for new people to show your bikes off to :p

Not that I’m jealous or anything ;) Where do you normally ride? I think a dungog ride would be on the cards soon I’m keen to get up that way.

Carbs are necessary and can cause a lot of issues if you try to drop them – energy levels/cognitive ability etc. are affected quickly. What you need to do is manage what carbs you eat and when you eat them. Stick with complex carbs like wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice as these will be slow to break down and provide a longer fuel and full feeling. Avoid refined/simple carbs, focus on whole natural foods and put a lot of effort into preparing meals in advance so that you don’t catch yourself out. I find the easiest way to stick to a diet is to eat plenty so you’re not hungry and fill your cupboards with good foods. Make a shopping list after dinner when you’re not hungry and make it by planning whole meals then prepare something the night before or cook up a few meals on sunday and freeze them. Never ever shop when you’re hungry – its a great way to think with your gut and fill your cupboards with stuff you shouldn’t eat.

Walnuts, almonds and celery make good snack foods in between meals if you like to graze but watch the nuts because they’re good for you but high in calories so you can’t eat a lot.

Walk at least 30mins a day preferably in the morning so your body gets straight into metabolism. Put a dumbell next to the lounge and do some curls or presses while you’re watching tv.

Most important thing you can do to take the weight off and keep it off is to educate yourself and learn what works for you in the long term. Preparing meals and clearing your cupboard of stuff you shouldn’t eat just helps your discipline and avoids getting caught in a moment of weakness because your blood sugar levels will tell you to consume sugar when your body starts to burn fat and you need to fight that.

Good luck guys. I’m not going to rub it in buy my journey is heading in the opposite direction in a way, I’m trying to re-gain mass but also build fitness back up. I use to train 4-5 days a week at the gym and was up to 85kgs and fit but went backpacking and lost all the muscle by drinking every day for 4 months straight :) Now I’m 70kgs and what I call skinny fat. I’m not really lean but I’m small with bugger all shape and I need more conditioning to compensate for my lack of bike control :p

You might want to think about taking magnesium tablets leading up to and during a ride. They help with cramping – a lot. Also, some sport drink helps. I usually run 1/3 strength in my camelbak and don’t get cramps much any more. :)

Thanks ecks I thought I read a while back that it was manganese but my memory is hazy :S I’ll grab some magnesium today and I think that ought to help alot as you say. I ate a couple of bananas for breky thinking that’d help but obviously it didn’t work!

Mine is quite innacurate these days but about 7 years ago I was looking at buying a blue honda S2000 and when I was looking into it I found an international S2000 site and signed on as Austblue because the car I was looking at was blue :(

I sold the car about 5 years ago but over the time I had it I became the community organiser for the Australian arm and I suppose for consistency I’ve continued to use it since even though it doesn’t make sense anymore! Trouble is after all this time on computers I have no imagination to speak of and can’t be arsed thinking of something new :p

Good news is the bike ran great all day. Bad news is I slightly damaged the water pump seal when installing it and thought it’d be ok but evidently it wasn’t because I got a bit of white oil in the breather hose while riding which caused a brief show of smoke and then a bit in the air box after the ride. Armed with the knowledge from last attempt I’m thinking I may pull it apart and see if I can borrow the tool the pros use to remove the rubber seal if not I’ll just have to pull the clutch cover off again but that means $30 for a new clutch gasket. Based on the strongly reduced amount I’m pretty confident its not a seperate issue that I’ve missed but who knows! I’m going to spend the next month getting it spot on for selling but will continue to ride in the mean time.

Bought her some force rad guards today ready for menai’s rocky hills this saturday!

Looselink should have a couple of pics and hopefully there’ll be some gaps filled in by the other guys. It was a shame Dave didn’t have video as I lost traction and slid back down the longer clay hill as fast as I came into it on my first attempt!

p.s. it’ll be nice to break into 600 posts on a good note seeing that I broke into 500 trying to work out how to fix my bike!

I spoke with Steve from picton cycles and they stock huskies as well as the shercos but they’re not getting the 2010’s till nov/dec so I’ll have to wait and they don’t have any demos left either. Expected price sounds reasonable for the 2.5 and he said the 3.0 should be similar so I’ve given him my details and hope to be able to ride them both back to back when they arrive.
