Ah no worries I’ll pass then thanks mate
IIRC they’re a two piece rear with alloy centre and steel teeth. You could also point out that rotating mass has a much greater affect than sprung mass.
From what I’ve read Supersprox are only really second to chain gang and from what I understand they dont make their own anymore so sprox are good to go
Is this a light weight sort of chain breaker that you could take on the trails? I have a heavy one that’s fine for the shed but if yours is light and can break and join chains then I’d be stoked to buy one Ollie.
These guys do a great deal and if you call them up you can probably get the hardened front sprocket upgrade thrown in. standard rear sprocket is fine unless you’re fast enough to feel the difference in weight Im told.
Compression tests are almost impossible with the new 4t bikes since they have auto decompression. You have to do a leak down but I’d just as soon put the new piston and ring in.
Is the catch can idea not a fool proof test for dud rings? I’m positive there wasn’t a loss in power and as I said, at the start of the day the bike was starting fine and even once there was an issue it was hard to kick as normal – no easy kicks.
Yeah sorry I thought I made that clear but reading again I didn’t. KTMs breather hose runs back into the airbox and its a common issue that oil will get in there if you tip it up. It can also be caused by blow by but I check it after every ride and normally have none in there and I was sure to check that my air filter was on properly when I fitted it and when I took it off and its cleaned and oiled before every ride. Bike had no noises before or after and it ran strong all day with the exception of the starting and idling issue.
If I take a ride with a coke bottle catch can taped to the breather hose surely it would soon show up any oil if the rings were stuffed right?
I’m trying to be open minded and optimistic at the same time but I can assure you that prior to this issue I was already aware that oil in the airbox can either be rings, over filled oil or bike tipped up and the 250excf is known to have ring issues but this can be addressed by aftermarket ring and piston and that’s why I’m running a CP kit.
Since I put the new bore in about 10months ago it’s not used oil. Since I’ve had the drain plug re-drilled flushed it over and again and I’ve ridden about 15hours before saturday but I still have it in the back of my mind that there’s the slight possibility that something has made its way through. I’ll be dropping the oil and screens for a look anyway.
Thanks for that Ollie. I just picked one up off ebay for $77 delivered
Here’s the link for those after one….
hmm I dont think this will work but here goes

Could anyone confirm that the C-tek 800m/a listed above is the one in the link below? I’m guessing that the m/a should be mA being milliamps because the ctek site doesn’t seem to have an 800m/a model.

Cheers.
Ollie is spot on if you’re going to ride the bush chances are you’re going to drop it or throw it at some stage. WRs are pretty good all round out of the box so just make sure its running smooth and it you have the money get the suspension set up as Ollie said and spend the rest on spares and tools
There’s quite a few HR consultants around these days that seem to think that extensive and elaborate recruitment processes equate to rigorous and thorough screening. Working in construction its more normal to change jobs and locations to get a promotion which would be more inconvenient than jumping some hoops. Mind you the pay is generally better.
Welcome whanny. Sounds like you got a pretty good buy, what’s the condition like and how many kms? I only paid 6k for my bike but I had to spend about 2k to get it to the condition its in now!

I’ve started a new thread for the saturday run to clear things up a bit. I’m interested in the sunday run too so you can either revive this thread or start another Steve. I thought TB was going to post up a ride for sunday?
Hmmm $12 from the UK and risk customs seizing it or $28 locally…..
Awesome pictures
