I had my first ride with my pivot pegz on sunday and I loved them! I’d really like to ride some more familiar stuff to gauge the difference but to me it just felt really smooth and planted especially when bouncing up rocky hill climbs. As the bike rocks back and forth it just rotates under your foot rather than bucking your heel/toes back and forth.
I didn’t get to blast any whoops but I it’d be the same thing I think.
They look shit hot too!
Yeah he didn’t want to give a price which is understandable but his attitude was reassuring. Shame I just wasted $90 on getting the helicoil put in – I’ll be reusing the $30/L motul oil I just put in it too! End of the day I want it right so I’ll do what it takes so that I know I can rely on it.
Just got off the phone with Greg and the options range from good to ugly but he’ll know as soon as he looks at it. With any luck I’ll be able to get it down there early next week and in case KGB is reading this, yes I will be asking you to take it for me and if you wont I’ll be asking your missus
Best option I think was to form a new face within the countersunk hole which if I understood correctly also meant a new custom thread insert. Next best was to weld it up and re-drill and give it a flush to clean it
Other than that it’s split the case and weld, redrill and tap.
I almost did something similar when i was a young(er) bloke. I was in the bush above Bill Delauny oval at revesby and we had to run back to the ground and I almost ran clean off the cliff onto henry lawson road – scared the bejeeesus out of me
Kirrawee isn’t a worry I might even give it to a mate this weekend tht can drop it there on monday. Cheers for the contact I’ll give him a call.
haha I’ll have my people do lunch with your people rat
thanks for the write up axel. I have a newish diesel triton 4×4 which would have no problems towing – the easy trailer is just a luxury so I don’t have to struggle to load/unload plus then I can put the ute lid back on and keep all my gear in there and being able to fold it and stand it up means I can keep it in the garage because I live in a townhouse.

That was my thought also but I don’t like the idea of having an oversize bolt unless I can still get a magnetic insert for it.
Can anyone recommend a reputable engineering company to do the work. I’m happy to take the engine back out again but I want to avoid splitting the case so they’ll still have to be careful not to get any swarf left in there. The KTM guys seal it up and hook an air hose up to keep it under pressure when they put the helicoil in last week but they said they don’t have any taps large enough to oversize it.
Good on ya mate, I thought that’d be the case and for $140ea I would want them to be the complete kit to eliminate the need for tie downs like the lock downs that ballards sells for $240 I reckon they look pretty simple in concept.
Any feedback on the easy trailer? they look very light duty but then I shouldn’t be giving it too hard a time anyway.
If I had the right size spanner it’d be a breeze!
I couldn’t find a pic of the m/c but if you look closely at this pic its behind the guard.
No I didn’t I just use my knee and that’s usually enough
I figured taking the cap off the M/C would help but its a pita for me since I don’t have a 21″ spanner so I have to remove the m/c and use a socket. I really need to start spending more money on tools
I bled my rear brakes on Saturday and I find that when I’ve done them they’re very stiff and not much play and with my pedal adjusted as low as possible its still very level with the peg and the slightest touch engages the brake. I did accidentally find that if the position bolt backs out and the pedal sits a little higher than its easier for your foot to sit where it wont accidentally engage the brake and you can still find it and have some play in the pedal before it locks the rear so I think I’ll just have it a tad high next ride and just learn to find it smoothly when needed.
TB up to you because I’ve taken what I need from this but you might want to split this thread up because there’s some good information here but its not all relevant to bleeding brakes. Perhaps make a Brake systems and a brake bleeding tech thread? I’d be happy to take some pics next time I bleed them and update the bleeding thread into a how-to.
I also found that after I bled them I couldn’t put the calliper in enough to get both new pads in so I had to use the ones in there which luckily lasted me the day but they’re rooted now. Any tips there?
Terrible to hear of that.
All the best for them – hope that he makes a good speedy recovery.
I did have a bit of that over the weekend myself but I might start my own thread because I need a bit of tech help myself. My bike had already had a helicoil put in the oil drain bolt and the dodgy shop drilled it on an angle so now my oil drain bolt doesn’t sit flush. I spent a lovely Saturday afternoon/evening putting my motor in and cleaning everything and bleeding the back brakes etc and it was holding oil then but as soon as I got temp in the radiators on sunday it was very slightly weeping out the drain hole. Not enough that it would drip but enough that I could see it around the washer and have it in the back of my mind all day.
Then I had a little lay down late in the day and my magic button and kill switch stopped working so I had to kick it *gasp*!!!
To me it was just a tad disheartening after doing the right thing putting in the prep time only for a couple of things to go slightly wrong. Of course that’s being way too sensitive and I snapped out of it to enjoy my ride but I feel your frustration.
Still had a great day with my new pivot pegz and handlebar dampeners though! I’ll have to do a little review this week.
Yeah I grabbed a chain as well. My brother has a kryptonite chain and it’s still able to be cut with a diamond tip so this is good enough for the money – maybe the kryptonite is a bit harder to get through but still not difficult enough to stop anyone with tools.
Sorry Racy I don’t have the internet on at home yet so I didn’t get this till just now. I ended up going for a ride with some “friends of friends” around sugarloaf and it was a nice easy ride and I’ve begun the process of corrupting them to come over to this place because they’re both keen riders.
Hope you both had a nice weekend anyway!
