Have you got a stray KTM 550 2 stroke that needs a piston TB?
They must be somewhat rare then….Have a spare CR500/CR250 motor floating around there do you Mr Teknik?
The topic should be “Freeride 350”. I was thinking we were talking “Freerider E” until I read that it takes 5L fuel. I’m keen to see a ride report on the E bikes I guess rather than this bike. It reminds me of the WR250R.
Wow that’s interesting. Have heard about them running one spring only. Now no springs… Thanks for sharing that info.
Happy Birthday Al. Well seasoned mate!
Yep between me and Grant we should sort something out. Whatever we make up will be a bolt-on so it should fit other KTMs and be removable back to standard.
He said to me the other day that his old XR had much more seat to peg distance. I think he’s right. The pegs can afford to drop a bit.Love that still shot of the Kato on the back wheel through the water. Would be a great poster.
I’ve stared at the problem for a while now. I think it’s possible.
Seat + Bars = $200-$300.
Make up a peg mount adaptor to drop the pegs a substantial amount = Much less.I’ll experiment and see how it goes. I might be able to avoid purchasing stuff I already have (seat and bars) and gain a better result.

BigAL now that’s one hell of a HIGH bar setup!
Awesome. I’m not quite that tall but it’s good to see they are still rideable with those mods.
That’s pretty cheap for a KTM HP tall seat.
So you don’t have any issues with the lowboy pegs then?
Your right, the long legs put the knees too high so you can’t grab the bike as easy.Good info guys, thanks. CR double hi? What brand?
Bundyroy wrote:I have never worried about lower pegs higher bend as the difference is always sub 10mm. How much difference can that little amount make to how it feels.I can answer that = a noticeable difference. I noticed with pegs at a lower position the pain reduction in the quads was noticeable at the end of a long day. At the time I thought it was worth the $160. Problem is I had to but 5-10mm from front of my Tech 6 heals so my boot would be in the correct position. I’m not hacking my Tech 7 boots this time.
Lower the pegs means I won’t have to raise the bars or seat height and change the handling of the bike.
A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, “Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.”
The biker pulled over and said, “Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.”
God replied, “Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.”
The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, “God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she’s thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing’s wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.”
God replied: “You want two lanes or four on that bridge…?”
LC4skin wrote:Protaper handlebars, Pastrana FMX/ATV Race are the highest bend, they are a bit narrower than normal. On my 625 I ran these with a 25mm riser and the clamps in the most forward position. On my Berg I run the standard bars, I started with 25mm risers, recently reduced to 20mm but will be going to 15mm soon for better cornering. I also roll the bars forward in the clamps but thats just the way I like it.
The seat on the Berg is higher than the 625 so going from sitting to standing is not such an issue, I think lowering the pegs will make it get stuck in ruts a little easier.
When I get tired I use bumps on the trail to seat bounce up onto my feet.
Hooray some good info. Thanks LC.
– They still make a Pastrana bend after all these years. Will look them up.
– I understand raising the bars affects the handling, that’s why I tried dropping the pegs. As for dragging in ruts, don’t you remember XR pegs!?! How low were they! I am hesitant to fool around with the pegs due to safety although it really is the “best” option in my opinion anyway.
– Enduro Engineering make a tough tall seat (Suttos has a special) but they are really weird looking.
– I use bumps to stand up too. Way too often now days.moto wrote:axel wrote:Looks like I know more about this than you lot….Yet, you’re still here asking questions about it
Farkinell. Well that’s a real shame isn’t it.
Looks like I know more about this than you lot….
