Murph, if you list them – we will come (rides). My bike is back in business. I’ve lost some weight. Will do some local rides shortly before hooking up to some of your and Galeys rides.

Cool idea. If there was money to be spent we’d be better off buying a heap of clips that have ends on them like Slavens uses in the U.S. Can use needle-nose pliers to insert/remove. Not sure if we can buy them here in AUS, but can’t see why not (unless they are $20 a pair…)

Thats because you only ride it around on the pilot jet!! :woohoo:

Not so Ollie. Although it is a 300 not a 125. I put a 38 pilot up from a 35 so should have even more carbon next time.
My helpful advice didn’t help with the second clip. F’n thing flicked out and hit me in the forehead. Luckily I wear safety glasses. I ended up using a different technique for the second one. Then lots of filing down high spots all over the piston LOL.

Hows this for dragging up an old thread. Had to search for this again as it’s been that long since rebuilds (1000 views). 5 years nearly to the month! The piston that came out this time was good enough to put back in.
Hopefully I won’t gouge the piston or lose the circlips on the floor….
Weirdly this time round I had to file the ring end gap. Never had to file a 2T ring gap down ever. Ring gap on genuine KTM rings I have are 0.25mm. The minimum gap for 300cc should be 0.3mm. SFA I know but the consequences would be disastrous.
Also, 200hrs without cleaning the power valve is a wee bit too long. Took me hours to get the carbon off the flapper. Didn’t even open up all the way any more.

Not a bad idea. I’ll be interested in someone’s old GoPro too. I’m not keen on the latest and greatest. I can’t justify the costs.

    Hey Axel,
See the attachment, is something like that ok?

Got one the same! Went to Rocket’s favourite shop (Fred Tappings) and picket up a stainless counter sunk just like that. The head diameter is spot on so it goes in nice. Takes a smaller allen key but just have to be careful.

When I sell the bike I might but the original back in so the buyer doesn’t freak out. The guy at the counter said my trouble was that I used an allen key instead of a star tool (whatever they are called). I said no way mate, that’s how tight the bastard was in there.

All good, thanks for the help all. Murph if you do find a wacky bolt that is exactly the same let me know – i’ll get one anyway.

I think your’e definitely going to find what your looking for there with Galey! LOL
He’s listed it as Grade 3 to entice more victims, I mean riders.
It’s a great place to ride, some of the best in the state/country and lead by a true gentleman who knows his tracks.

Sorry Galey I still can’t make any rides, my bike is still requiring repairs and rebuild.

Yep that sounds like a first – the seat bolt. Very annoying position to snap a bolt in, but not the worst. Did it snap off because it’s all rusty/corroded or did you cross thread it and tried to wind it out?
If you can remove the seat cover (your doing that anyway) and can see the seat foam, not sure if you can lift the foam a bit to get access to the plastic seat tray. My idea would be to make up some wood chocks to somehow fasten the seat tray in a vice securely, then left hand drill bit drill out the bolt. Punch a dent into it first as a guide so the drill bit doesn’t stay and destroy everything else. Then again, if you have the seat cover and foam off/up (never seen it myself) you might be able to see how the nut is secured to the seat and remove it as well – replace entirely or work on removing the bolt away from the seat. Someone who has seen the naked seat tray might have answers to all these questions.
