Here’s a log I’d rather never see again and you guys can do without. Found some pics on my bike camera the other day. This one cost me nearly 2 years off the bike.
I go over logs real slow now. Real slow and steady.

OK please explain. I have never had anything to do with what you are on about.

From what I could workout is that it had a nut on either end of the axel??

Yes Mick? Oh, you mean Axle.

Riverright, I was going to say “that nut is or is supposed to be welded….” but it looks like you have had one of those special moments.

I had one of those last week. Tightening the headstem to no avail without loosening the top tripple clamps……

I ran F14/R12 PSI in the general area your intending on riding in last Sunday (wet wet wet wet wet).
As I was riding I was thinking I probably should have let some more out but see the tires of today work pretty well with high pressures I find so running less than 10 PSI is not so critical. The front end of my 75% worn Dunflop worked fine (surprisingly) at 14PSI.

You guys must be heavy on the go pedal. It took me 5.5hrs from Dubbo to the Central Coast for the Murphsburg via Cessnock. Dubbo to Lithgow 3.5 hrs.

Corey dude count me in. An awesome offer ! Axel, we could drive up together! Not sure which way yet! Clearing my calendar now!!!!Count me as a relo axe if you need more reasons!

Hahaha now we’re talking. Sounds like a good start to a plan Galey. It’s 12hrs to Macksville via Bathurst from Dubdub. Maybe we can meet and car pool from Muswellbrook to save a few hours for me, we shall see. Bringing my wife is optional, she will be 2/3 full by September and may not want to go. Hope your ok with all this Corey, strangers from the west showing up on your lot? You never know what sort of people might take up your offer…. 😆 :silly:

Gee lets hope it stops raining guys. Best of luck to those affected or about to be anyway. Wish some of it would come inland a bit…. my gauge is empty and the forecast all day is “rain”.

Been meaning to see a WRC one day. It’s a reasonable drive for me but I might be able to see some relos up there to justify the trip too. I’ll put that weekend in my Calendar.

I agree with Murph. It’s one thing running hundreds of bikes through a pine forest but running them through some nice forest like the Wattagans, especially when waterlogged, is not so good. You guys will lose that riding area oneday sadly to NP. Hopefully not anytime soon.

Oh and Al I think I saw some oil from your bike on the quarry rock face there. It’s like a big cheese grater for bikes.

And also sealing up the airbox on my ’08 saved me some serious trouble that’s for sure. With all those river crossings there was no problem making it everytime.

Hello all, I don’t have photos of this ride as my camera would not have liked the rain.
This was a ride to remember. Sunday morning the rain came down as I slept in the van so hard it woke me up and couldn’t get back to sleep. Was a little worried that the shoulder injury the day before was going to ruin the day. I thought to myself, “there’s no way we can ride today, it just hasn’t stopped belting down”. Not so. As I was comfortable of the idea of packing the car and enjoying the wet drive to Dubbo in my heated Patrol, Murph had other plans. We were going to ride this storm. Heard the sound of bikes heading up the street. Dave and Dude came along by choice!
The first 10min and we all knew what we were in for. Massive puddles and soaked to the bone.
For me it was survival all day. After being jousted off my bike the day before I had no plans to come off in the slippery conditions. Nearly every lake we rode through could have been 1cm or 2ft deep. Roll of the dice stuff.
Single trails were just creeks we rode up and down. I think we did pretty well to make it through without a drama. Hats off to the Murphs for being able to put a ride together considering how many times we had to u bolt from a raging torrent across the trail. The quarry and that big drop off (razorback) were memorable. Probably easier when dry but everything was just that much harder to get through or up when you and the bike weigh what seemed like 50kg heavier. Didn’t think Dude was going to do the quarry climb, it was never going to end well, not enough momentum and he hit the sharp lip I did too. I stepped off the bike but poor Dude barrel rolled south. Funny but scary stuff as well. Maybe the mankini helped? :)
Lunch and fuel was welcomed by all but damn we were cold when we stopped for the while. Smurph stood shaking like a leaf for ages until the spare garbage bag sorted him out. It took about 20min for me to warm up again. I fell off the track into danger zone more times I can remember. I had a cheap trenchcoat style BigW jacket on and by the end of the day it was shredded. The only dry spot on me was 10cm2 on my chest!
Never rode in that much water before and I don’t think I every will again (the opportunity to that is). It was freaky. Over 100mm of rain that day in some places.
So yes it wasn’t the Murphsburg we thought it would be but it was tough nevertheless. Big thanks to the Murphs, Dave and Dude for coming along. One to remember!

Nothing like having a nice loop to cut laps on.
Those pics remind me of riding around Wedderburn years ago on RM250/KTM250. Missing all the car wrecks though :D

We used to ride through Darks Forest too, in and out of the military area…. bad idea. Ended up popping out at a horse riding ranch too once….very bad idea.

G’day again team. I have some photos and notes of Saturday. Sunday was too wet for my $30 camera…

So long 5.5hr drive Friday evening got me to single trail central. Expecting showers this weekend, no problem.
Got to the starting point first nice and early for some wet weather preparation. Perfect weather for a spin.
We had Seb, Pikey, Littswood, Moto, Murph and Smurph show up in time for the 10am start. Nice spread of noisy 4 bangers and hardcore 2 smokes.
Very nice selection of single tracks (some seemed quite new), reasonably tricky hill climbs and some lovely flowing firetrail to dial down the adrenalin a little for the next challenge around the corner.

Seb fighting one of many rock filled ruts:

Need a hand Seb? Nah mate, all good:

Smurph making it look easy all weekend:

Luke about to sling the 3hundy up on his shoulder for the rest of the climb:

I think this is Murph bounding up this root/rock covered face with the now familiar 525 200db muffler crack:

Moto made it look easy:

Luke with a quick dismount and catch. Was hard to stay on that damn mesh. Murph and I successfully fell off it too and plowed a new rut (ooops):

Seb had a couple shots at it too. Look ahead is the key:

We had some celebrity onlookers enjoying the show that day. “Knew that would slow them down eh boy?” :D :

Moto likes the sit down approach and wind on the horses to get up those slippery rocks:

Helping hand for Seb’s WR that didn’t like the rocks on this climb at all:

There was a photo of Pikey somewhere here. Top job sweeping mate.:

Oh oh!!!! Murph took his eye off the prize.

Re-assembling the 525 after the excursion. Tools made an appearance. Toiletry bag is a great idea to hold tools:

Murph, Moto and Pikey on a typical downhill for the day:

This nearly changed everything (Seb). Not the quickest line that one:

He cranked the life out of the battery and kicked it about 50 times. At first it wouldn’t even turn over. Murph and I looked at each other “Surely not. Wasn’t that deep….was it”

Thankfully not. It fired up, coughed it’s guts up and powered on to the cars. Smiles all round.

Well done to all and thanks for the top ride! :woohoo:

Good stuff Pikey, was an awesome ride that. You may have had 20 years off but you handled it all without breaking a sweat it seemed :D
How about that ripper weather we had Saturday? Perfect dust free conditions.
I’ll have more to say when I get back home tomorrow and upload some happy snaps.
I’m feeling a little second hand right now after a soggy part 2 of the 2 part Murph dirtbike extravaganza weekend, but that’s another story the Murph can kick off later……
