Just saw Ollie’s link. I have borrowed a KTM carbon wrap over guard (hardparts I think). It’s strong but not good for hard impacts as you can bend and crack the pipe as you say. My mate Grant here in town has made a carbon/glass composite that mates with the alloy bashplate and the front of the engine frame cradle. There might be images of it in the Murphberg Basin ride report…. That unit took some planning I tell you. I remember sitting in front of his bike for about an hour brainstorming with him. Our solution is quite elegant. It will take a tree stump to either side at single trail speeds – that’s proven. I will be undertaking my similar design over Christmas with some enhancements. We use police fingerprint black powder mixed in with the resin to give it a real dark matt finish. Gloss looks very ordinary.
Oh, and nice work tf2. fantastic results there.
Thanks buddy, was yesterday.
Bit seedy this morning after a few schooners, too much chocolate cake ….
Somehow have to prep the bike in this heat today for the weekend. Looks like I’m on my own for the ride which is a little surprising.
Storms and rain are forecast Fri/Sat/Sun at Lithgow so hoping to keep the dust at bay.
If any of you blokes need some KTM stuff from the states let me know, I’ll be putting an order in soon.

I haven’t seen such consistently dry, abrupt posting for some time (probably since I got chased off the last forum I was on). It’s all good, keep it up.

Never thought about it that much. How romantic.
I guess it goes to show that you can ride good sitting down all day
That must be a roll bar then, I thought for a moment it was for balance which seemed weird. Good on him.mote:

1. a small particle or speck, esp. of dust.Very strange. Maybe you meant MOIT?
moit:
–noun
1. a foreign particle found in wool, as a burr, twig, or seed.Either way, that’s name calling to another level, or another dimension maybe. I don’t get it.
Dunno about you Ollie but my bones where creaking extra this morning
I like cake. That dirtbike on the cake looks like a Honda… maybe a Gas Gas then so that’s acceptable
In fact, it looks to be a PDS suspended bike which accounts for the bad ride posture hahaha  :laugh:Thanks all.
That Ossa appears to be FI not DI.
Wondering why there hasn’t been more attempts at just FI in the meantime whilst DI is tuned for the masses. Maybe FI has issues that will spoil the party for DI? Maybe they just want to leapfrog to DI without too much R&D. Who knows.
Same here Bruce, would rather something good be available sooner than later.Honda saw an opportunity to make money and raise it’s profile and took it. Good luck to them. I would buy a Honda if they had a broader range of dirt bikes. Sadly it seems they have to stick to their guns and keep 4 stroking into the future. Similarly, Subaru is rejecting joint venture car platforms due to being stuck in the AWD mindset. Stability control on many cars nowdays makes the AWD system less “relevant”. Maybe we will see 2 stroke technology making 4 strokes a little less relevant too.
Happy Birthday Ollie. Easy to remember your birthday as I share the same date! If your the oldest OB then I’d have to be one of the youngest. Have a good one.

BobG’day Bob, we’ll get you back to your car on a tank if you come. What I was getting at was if it’s just my mate and I we will explore out Ben Bullen way. If we have to pick people up from Zig Zag then we won’t because it’s a bit of a hike. Either way we will return everyone where they started, no problem.

Quote:sounds like a top weekend axel  pity i can t come  but have other things i have to do .this new 300 you got must be a good thing you been doing a lot of riding lately (don t seem to worry about putting to many hours on it unlike your 250F me and smoken thought that was funny)
Ah, not surprised Rocket, not surprised. You guys have to get out more. This will probably be the last ride for me for the year as weekend trips like this aren’t that easy to get. No way will I ride local in this heat. 44C on Friday here.
I dunno where you got the “hours” thing from? You must be mistaken with Patto on that one. Unless I was talking about wearing the POS out which was likely. $500 rebuild every 6 months was the issue. I may have not wanted to put hours on it because I was sick of rebuilding the shit heap. It wasn’t the case for selling it with less hours, couldn’t care less. The difference you see here is this:
– 250 4 stroke = more worried about making it to the end of the ride
– 300 2 stroke = more worried about not riding enough and maximising fun factor.Hi Ollie your best to introduce yourself to those who know everything about ITs: http://www.yamahait.com.au
Located in Australia with the biggest worldwide source of IT knowledge to date.
Jock is the founder, AKA “Pedro”.Shameless bump. Maybe I should offer free beer with the ride?
