Not fun. Sat night in our tent after the Murph ride I felt a bump on my head, kind like I hit it on the edge of a table. Felt like it had a head on it like a zit. Started to pick at it with my fingernail – bad idea. It decided to let me know by what felt like sinking it’s teeth into my nerve ending. Pain was bad for 5-10 min. I knew something wasn’t right. Sunday avo after the Diddel ride I got my mate to have a look at it because the bump got bigger. Tick! Bastard! We used what was at hand (in hand) – home brew bourbon! Mr Tick didn’t like the bourbon as much as we did and started backing out legs first. It got dark, we got too pissed to do much more and I went to sleep. In the morning just to be sure we dropped some premix onto him and he was well and truly deadski. Mal 5.1 took a look and grabbed some tweezers to rip him out of my head. Then off for the next ride we went!
Haven’t got around to my ride report all, been busy catching up with work, off to Norfolk Is for the week on holidays. Will post up all the pics and report when I’m back everyone.
So did I, but I see no new Shercos getting around and my spies in Narromine say they saw no Shercos either. I thought they were to be an Ass Gas dealer? Ah well. Maybe “Eric” can confirm. Maybe that can be your next ride Rocket, a Sherco?

I must say we were supposed to get an Ass Gas (I mean Gas Gas – Ass Gas was coined by yours truly) dealer out here and that didn’t happen. Ass Gas and Sherco dealer would be nice. Sadly, this part of the country is not open minded enough for these brands alone. Out here if you don’t ride a Jap bike or drive a Holden or a Ford you don’t fit in. That’s why my precious Skyline has been for sale for 6 months without a single phone call…. I bet if I slap a Commodore badge on it….

Stepping back into the crossfire again…
Not as easy as it looks Moto. Have to make sure I don’t appear the nerd here. I know nothing about computers and stuff. No interest in gadgets. To put an image on a Cisco phone like this one would (if they knew what they were talking about) configure the phone to point to a configuration file on a TFTP server that references the image file which is a 8bit bmp from memory within a certain resolution. Every time the phone reboots it downloads the image. It’s all mumbo jumbo to me….

I hear you Mr C, so many of the sales people around seriously take us for fools. It’s like they are doing us a favour being there for us to hand money to. It blows my mind everytime. I’ll try and remember the zoo keeper one. Nice one :cheer:
A mate of mine here has been working up a plan to start a new dealership with the pure intention of putting them all out of business. I’m certain it would succeed too, by simply looking like he is half interested in doing his job and helping out customers with money standing in front of him. It can’t be that hard.

You could paint the string Orange?
Nice phone Axel, I was at our new office about an hour ago talking with the telecom guys about which handsets to order, I’m getting one with a decent size LCD screen so maybe I can do the same
You’ll need to work on being the best buddy of the Telco guy to let that happen
I’ll preempt some of the jokes:
– I should put a kickstarter on the side so I can Kick Till Monday
– It may need a linkage so it doesn’t pogo around my desk when the conversation gets rough
– It should have a KATM slot on it to feed money into it to keep it running
– That’s all I can think of
– No, one more, it’s got the red spring in it for more aggressive talk curve (snort)How’s this for an example of “too much time on your hands”?
Yes, my desk phone. I do need help. Been waiting for an opportunity to show it off.
I didn’t think you were that heavy Moto. I feel better now.
Although you do have a point you are also spoiled by the fact your 3 rides are designed to be the base/platform for race winning enduro bikes.
The DRZ as an example (Suzuki designed the suspension for the bike without the rider – marshmallow soft) will have better results when touched by an expert as apposed to your example which is fine tuning good suspension for your weight and experience. Know what I mean?
The point is yes you don’t need to spend alot of money if you don’t want to (or have it) to get an improved ride.
Oh c’mon.
How about I put an end to the cycle? I’ll have the last say.“Say NO to forum dribble”
Good stuff Ecks. I agree. I wouldn’t rule out an XR400 either though. Or KLX250/300 DR250? I have a feeling electric start is influencing the decisions here….

If so I don’t think you’re ‘handling’ the situation properly
Haha that’s just wrong Moto….
I don’t want to start a dealer bashing thread again but your right Ecks, the dealers around here are unbelievable. I don’t just think it’s bike dealers too, Dubbo shop owners in general are pretty bad, maybe it’s just me. The Honda dealer in town is the worst here. I can feel them jeer and heckle me when I leave the shop. Worst shop in town. Pricks.

Anything more than 10K for a 200 is top dollar in my opinion. Must be able to better than that. Dave will make you pay Rocket I’m surprised you even bothered to ask?

I knew you’d pop up and read that!!!
We have talked about this before. I didn’t get papers with mine either (no body has). I’d be surprised if the Husky dealers gave anything too?! I’d say that if you contacted KTM Aus you would be able to request warranty info in writing. I’d say they would have to. The problem you had was out of the ordinary. Your the only person I “know” who had a big issue with warranty at a KTM dealer. To play it safe we can agree that there are more happy KTM owners than unhappy wrt the warranty.Moto wrote:
Quote:Not that I want to start a bike war (so I will avoid using Honda as an example) but how many KLX450R’s do you see on an average ride compared to KTM’s for example? You would expect that more people moan about issues with KTM’s as there are lots more people riding them.Funny you say that because from memory Yamaha WR outsells everything in Aus but every ride I go on seems to be awash with KTMs. Wonder where all the WRs actually go? I keep an eye on all things KTM and have to say most owners I know that have a reasonable relationship with their dealer do pretty well out of KTM warranties.

Well done on the jetting fix Moto. I just looked mine up: NC3J #3, 165M. Not sure of the pilot.
The 1/4 wrench shouldn’t fit. Pretty sure it’s too big. I was going to get a SCA 1/4 drive and run it on the bench grinder. Instead I grabbed an old allen key and ground it down instead.
Whatever you do don’t be tempted to put a screwdriver in there. It can be very tight. I had to dismantle mine to free it up.
I found red with the screw flush (most people do it) was nice. I have the ignition on soft but will change it soon to try back on hard.
Remember that my top end is reasonably worn Moto so probably appeared smoother than it should be. Yours was quite angry when it got on the pipe so making that come on early with the red might wear you down. You might find the Yellow lets you ride with more “off pipe” power comfortably. -
