I’ll be optimistic, I have had the same bike in a past life: clean carb and airbox nice. Set your oil height spot on (hot 1/2 way, cold 1/8 way). Ride it around and give it hell (without dropping it). Check airbox for oil. Chances are it will be fine and dandy.
If there is an un-healthy amount of oil then assume rings and tear the thing down and see. Valve clearances? You shouldn’t need to touch anything major for at least 200-250hrs.
I will say however, that I opted to not run CP kits because the high(er) compression that those things ran at gave me a bad feeling. Same as JE, high compression. I ran Wiseco as they were the only aftermarket kit that had standard compression pistons. Sadly I put that bike into the too hard basket and offloaded it. EXCs with SX motors ….

G’day Morgo, you didn’t ask for my opinion on doing that but my answer is officially no, haven’t tried it and most definitely won’t be in future. Haven’t heard anyone ever doing so either.

Don’t start the PDS thing up again…. stick to the motocool bs and leave my bike’s suspension out of it…let the bitching resume.

    Yep, fair enough Mick.
You know how people are nowdays, there are those that expect nothing and those that expect everything.
It makes selecting friends and riding buddies quite easy! :)
Sadly however, the “expect everything” people of this world that we generally despise seem to have a knack at getting into positions of power, make lots of money and make decisions on our behalf based on making more money…

Hey Huzza, no matter how much a ride costs you are still gunna get whingers. In March I put a ride on which included a 130km of lush unmolested trails, a tank of fuel, lunch and after ride snacks and a beer or two all for the whopping cost of $25 and I still had a tosser get on here and sledge the shit out of the ride. So what do you do? You can’t please them all. ;)

Gee Mick, Ill be in that too! Damn that’s very generous!

I don’t know about throwing the word “whinger” around so easily nowdays. Hard working families that shop at Aldi for example, I wouldn’t call whingers just because they vote with their wallets and don’t shop at Coles. A Greek friend once told me: “the idiot/fool pays the amount not charges the amount”.
Sunny Corner organisers can charge $1500 for all I care and provide golden toilet paper, I’ll spend my money elsewhere, I don’t consider that whinging, I consider it a choice not a statement.

I should be up there for a spin. Won’t be paying the $150 raffle ticket. Will be catching up with some sydney folk primarily.

The fact I can preview the thread by “mouse over” is gold!
I literally don’t bother opening any threads that have subject lines that don’t look interesting. I have visited OBT on the odd evening and never actually opened a single thread to look at! A quick mouse over might entice me to have a closer look. Good work Chris.

I agree with the Blueman and Moto: The chinese can make good stuff. They will (if they want to or are asked to) make a dirt bike that will really make a difference.
Basically a Fiat500 or a Hyundai Excel of the dirt bike world.
The should make a 250 or 450, as reliable as an XR, reasonable power or at least easy to modify and 2/3 the price of a jap equivalent. Dirt bikes for the masses. Choices of colour and all the generation Y wants. Aftermarket parts galore.
Hell, I would consider buying one if it’s cheaper and reliable.

Lies. I merely did a fellow rider a favour by taking his jinxed bike off him :)

Since there’s history between you let the jesting continue

Gday Moto, Ecks knows what I was on about… Not enough smiley faces there but I didn;t want to ruin the effect. Trust me when I say I don’t lash out without tongue in cheek :), not that sort of fellow. I’m very rarely dead serious unless we are talking technical. ‘Till next time!

Who dragged this old thread up from the grave? :)

The Coona PE is for 2 strokes only guys. There’s hills there. Didn’t anyone tell you Western Plains lads?

Who would buy a banged up 300 after a crash like that. They must be desperate for a deal. Fancy taking advantage of people like that! Those 300s are crap anyway.
