Bob is that price for brand new? If so its pretty good.

I went from 04 to 09(07,11) My take on the change

04 were pretty aggressive 09 is no different once rejetted, piped and decorked

04 had a pretty big tank alot bigger than 07-11 fuel range can be pretty ordinary out of the standard tank if your on it like 70km

Alot of parts are interchangeable but there are some that are not.

Imo 11 is not that much greater than an 04 I found it harder to set the alloy frame bike up over the steel frame.

If you have the cash burning a hole in your pocket I’d say go for the 11 you won’t be disappointed but allow a bit for a pipe and rejet they are shit stock. At the moment the dealers want ridiculous prices for the FI 2012 WR they can keep them for now.

I actually contacted B&B and showed them the photos they weren’t interested in the mod or changing there design. Too many concerns about overheating????? Needless to say we have never had an issue with overheating.

I think what you are trying to achieve may not be possible. A cheap dirt bike that can carve single track but also sit on 120kph for long periods.

After owning a 600 Transalp there is no way I would buy one for single track work, they are heavy have bugger all ground clearance and not much power I have riidden single track on one and its not an enjoyable ride. But out on the open dirt they are fantastic and will cruise on 130 to 140kph all day.

I think the Transalp would be very similiar to your Strom kind of a road bike adapted for Dirt Highway cruising.

Heaps of guys do big Km’s on KLR’s so they must be able to be geared to do the higher speeds?

Thanks guys for all the birthday wishes.

Pretty quiet one this year no biking or wakeboarding, didn’t even do the annual badbowie birthday bash ride between Coffs Harbour and Stuarts Point damn kangaroo has spoilt all fun, waiting to see a hand specialist this Friday after the off on the Longest Day ride.

A link for my Spot Adventure. Easy to see the sort of average speed needed, where I stopped to put on winter jacket (as I was freezing). Where I stopped to take the winter jacket off (as I was cooking) and the fuel stops along the way.

I have to thank Ianbmw from ADV as without him coming along I probably would have pulled the pin and not made it to the corner.

He was chasing me all the way from Bourke but about half an hour behind , he was enjoying seeing some good line choices through the bog holes and corners which I think he followed but when I had made a bad line choice he would try somewhere else.

I got into Tibooburra and the talk of the town was how bad the road was out to camerons and that it was closed and a mess. I was like should I or shouldn’t I rang my dad stood around for about 20 minutes and basically called it, Ian came belting into the servo, I asked what are his plans he was pretty familiar with the road and said it would be sweet, He asked a local about some deviations that had to be made and he was happy to go and off he went at full throttle I sat just out of his dust for the run in.
He is a top bloke we talked bikes and trips and he was doing exactly what I was doing ticking another one off the bucket list. He has already done a Solo simpson east to west and then turned around and came back west to east. Thats a huge effort

Hey guys I have legged it to broken hill. Sitting in a motel now. Good birthday
Present for the old man today to have to rescue his son hahaha. It was
A mission you had to be on it. I left in freezing cold and rain by the time
I was at bourke it was high 30s . Heaps of water out there with quite
A few deviations ,iin places you just had to take the water on and be
On the gas. I was a bit rattled last night so no getting on the cans for me.
Patched the bike up with tape and ties it was a beast to ride at first
but after about 40km it just seemed normal having one cafe style bar
and the other an ape hanger.
Spot started working again today??? Only 2 off us made it out there

SB and I were talking about this last night, as much as we are a fans of the Yamaha’s I doubt either of us will be pulling the trigger on a 2012 WR450. (Considering I have been waiting 12 months for the release of this bike not to grab one straight up is a big decision)

I like the Huskies and the deals being done atm they would be pretty hard to beat bang for buck, don’t know about them being trail oriented?? anyone that has got one reckons the are the goods for all round.

I have done a couple of bigger races on Honda CRF’s X’s and R’s and IMO the WR’s and CRF’s are very similiar.

I’v used 00 steel wool with soap on 30 year old plastics. Brings them up pretty good still requires a bit of elbow grease.

I had a 97 CR250 (First with alloy frame) and a mate had a 96 (steel frame) both great bikes with heaps of grunt, the only issue I had with mine and the 96 wasn’t much better was that it had scary headshakes, spent heaps on suspension to try to sort it but never did I read later it had alot to do with there frames being very rigid????

I don’t think it matters, my D40 Navara has been out through the centre getting diesel from any servo when I needed it and it just got back from an east coast to west coast and back to east coast towing a caravan, same deal filling up at any servo when it needed it, no diesel dramas in 160,000km and four years.

Our VW T5 transporter has been out to the centre towing an enclosed trailer three bikes, no dramas with any diesel we used either.
