SB was airlifted out of the stage today, after a stake struck his boot and embedded in his ankle. Boot was cut off by the medics. DR has assessed him and he is good to continue tomorrow.

I’v been runnning a Uniden UH 078SX for the past couple of years, which is pretty much the same as the 076SX.
Its a top unit, There is a guy on ADV rider that makes a really nice mounting bracket for these Uniden radios. Around $100 from memory and its a top bit of gear.

I run mine through an Autocom system, I run Ipod, UHF and phone all through the system. With a push to talk button mounted on the handlebars. The Ipod turns itself down the minute the phone rings or silence is broken on the UHF.

Yeah thats right TB, somewhere in the fine print there is a period prior to the subsciption expiring that you have to notify them if you don’t want to continue you subsciption.

Something you guys with spots may need to look at. When I got mine 2.5 years ago there must have been somewhere on the register page about auto renewing your subscription after 12months??????

Well 12 months went by and I had no real use for the spot so it didn’t concern me my subsciption was going to expire. In that twelve months my credit card had also expired. Spot continually tried to debit my now expired credit card until the point I received letters of demand seeking money for that whole period. The spot was not operational during this time.

I basically told them to eat a d#ck. Well I got a very long letter apologising about the whole deal and they will let it slide THIS time.

BUT it will be interesting if I ever try to start up my spot again what charges they try to hit me with

I guess the reason why I ask for you to have seen so many damaged WR gearboxs you must have owned a few or have mates that have owned them?

I have heard and read all the hype Re WR gearbox’s over the years and I reckon I can count on one hand the number of times a gearbox has totally failed.

From personal experience I’v had 5 WR 450’s through my shed with combined total of around 40,000kms between them. Mates have done 15,000km+ on WR’s and the engines have never been opened. Only one of my bikes had any issues with the gearbox and that particular bike spent 90% of its life in motard disguise with no cush drive being flat changed on the track, simple the dogs gave out from memory on second gear.

There are isolated issues but you need to understand how the bike was used and the maintenance schedules performed. So I agree with STM yamaha have achieved a great balance with the WR.

Engine wise I agree scotty, Gearbox issues let em down, seen it many a time.

    Ollie

Can you give me a bit more of an idea of the gearbox issues you have seen many a time?

Can anyone suggest a good camp spot between Bourke and the corner where we can have a camp fire?
Is it a good place to camp at the corner itself?

    Many thanks

Cameron Corner is a great place to camp, if you don’t want to camp they have a couple of Dongas. Don’t expect to get an early night there.

No real need to camp between Bourke and the Corner its an easy achievable ride in a day.

So I’v heard a bit of a rumour that one of this sites well known XR650 pilots is leaving the BRP at home, and instead will be piloting a late model KTM300 with all the fruit, tech lube forks and all!!! Wonder if he will enjoy the ride?? Time to own up XR rider

Nice write up Murph, I don’t think my effort out of the railway cutting can be classed as “making it” it was a pretty poor attempt lol.

I think the name Chicken Track needs to be changed to Alternate Route for future Murphsberg rides haha, as some of those chicken tracks are still a good grade 3to4.
