As most have said decent quality is the way to go.
I know you only asked about sockets sets but with a couple more items you can get most jobs done…
This is my opinion only and others may differ. For working on bikes you can get away with a 1/4inch drive socket set most modern bikes are metric most sets have imperial and metric but you will find your imperial ones don’t get used much. I find sockets that have the six flats ie and internal hex are the best for using on butter soft bike bolts. This style drives of the flats of the bolt head and not the corners therefor less chance of rounding bolt heads. I also like the socket sets that have deep sockets included. 1/4 inch drive usually goes up to a 13mm socket. If you need a bigger socket you will have to go up to a 3/8 drive. If its only a couple of bigger sizes you need you could use a 3/8 to 1/4 adaptor and just buy those sockets you need. In my opinion 1/2 drive is to big in most cases for working on bikes.
A set of metric combination spanners (ring and open end) 6mm to 19mm if possible the ring end of the smaller sizes 6,8,and 10mm to be of hex variety that drives of the flats not of the corners.
A set of metric ball drive allen keys
Side cutters (great for cutting cable ties)
A couple of screwdrivers phillips heads and straight (probably easiest to buy a screwdriver set)
And any specfic tools you need for your particular bike ie axle nuts, countershaft sprocket nuts(if applicable) spoke wrench etc

Looks like you guys got a good ride in considering the weather. I’m thinking I maybe should have stayed up at Stuarts Point for a couple more days and joined in for the ride.
Murph I suffer from it bad always have. I try to ride on the pegs as much as possible but still get it.
Even worse if I have needed to release a hostage before a ride. (I have sorted that issue using baby wipes for the clean up!!!!!)
Some days I would have no skin left serious all the boys would laugh as by the end of the ride I would be riding side saddle hahahah.
I started powdering my butt with baby powder and did that for many years but found as I sweated the powder would make little balls and rub like a coarse emery paper…….not nice.
Then tried sorbolene cream rubbed in before a ride didn’t help at all.
I now wear skins and find they help on most rides but if I sweat bad or its a extended ride I still have the issue.
I have read somewhere to try the cream cyclists rub into there chamois, so that is going to be my next thing to try.

Not to sure Mal, there was alot of fallen trees on the track we were riding, there was nobody in front of him when it happened, He did say it hit him in the leg, I was to far back to see no doubt he may be able to shed some light on it when he gets on next.

Nice one TB I was trying to think of a one liner to write regarding Capt Furious and Jousting when I did the RR. I think Capt Furious would be happy with that strike hahaha……..
Yeah very lucky all it did was cut the radiator overflow line to atmosphere and cut the brake wires to the brake light I think he allways wanted a drilled out airbox anyway……

We all got up eventually and headed off to meet the support vehicle for lunch. I was following SB when he came to a sudden stop. I pulled up and noticed a stick sticking out of his seat but I looked closer and noticed it had entered at his air box.
It was lucky no major damage had missed the air cleaner and everything else so we were right to continue to lunch

My parents had picked up some random dude who apparently had taken his Gf’s car for a drive and got stuck he had been walking for over 6 hours with no food or drink and needed help to get out. Well we didn’t think we were going to find a commodore up these trails.

We then continued on to our last meeting point at Taylors Arm we beat the support vehicle I think the Old Dude got lost hahah or was driving realy slow…… so had a nice beer whilst we waited. Bikes for fueled camel backs were filled and we started our last leg across to the coast.

60km to go an about 2 hours we should be back we headed up Bulls Knob and rode a few singles crossed the Pacific Highway and headed up Mt Yarrahapini its great climb to the top.

Then down the other side rode some sand tracks into Stuarts Point and the big ride was over 260km what a ride.Thanks guys, had a great day, had a early birthday ride yesterday with SB and two mates from Coffs Harbour one on a 690Kato and the other on a 300 Gasser we rode from Coffs Harbour to Stuarts Point we rode singles, Fire Trails, down creeks up and down snotty clay hills, it was a great day all up did 260km we left Coffs about 830am and got into Stuarts Point about 730pm.
I’ll try to get some photos together and post upNice report Murph ,and thanks for a great ride, it was good meeting a few more old bulls I hadn’t yet met.
Had a great ride, although as the report states I did eat $hit early on nearly losing my bike down a huge hole, I just hit it and thought I could jump up on top but yeah it didn’t go to plan, when I landed well it just went bad from there. Worst part was I had hammered my nuts so was not keen for another attempt at that point.
Rode some great singles some nice rocky hills and was having a great time.Now I love a rocky hill climb but this hill “Amazon” it takes the cake just goes on for ever. I reckon it would have broken a few souls in the past! From riders trying to conquer it.
I realised how light 300’s are compared to 450’s whilst giving a dusty a hand to get up. With smoke pouring of his rear tyre I have never heard a 2T rev so hard whilst he was trying to climb the rock the 300 sounded sweet at full song!!!Did a few more singles then had a bit of a rest near a cabin in the middle of the forest. We then started to head for home. Before long we were back. I was keen to jump in Murphs pool but felt if I did I was not going to go home anytime soon, so made the decision to head off for the 2 hour drive home.
Thanks everyone for a great ride beats working on a Saturday.Ironman was a stretch, when I pitted after 3 laps I sat down took my helmet off and had a break, my eyes were full of sand and I could barely see. I think Pony Express would have been alot more enjoyable.

That was near the end of the race and I was pretty much spent, It was a mission just to stay on the bike! I was that knackered on the last lap I pulled off the track and had a five minute break…..

I’m not sure where the pump is located on the TS. But on most bikes you can just unbolt the pump. And install a block off plate, A peice of alloy or steel the same shape as the flange on the bottom of the pump.
Remove the tank and plug or cap where the oil was being injected into the inlet.
32.1 would be ok but probably very smokie and may fowl plugs easily I would run 50.1 with a good quality oil. If you want to be on the safe side 40.1
