On the Yammies I pull the bottom shock bolt out of the shock then operate the rear suspension through its travel and adjust accordingly doesn’t take as long as you think and its always right. Another thing to be aware of is don’t rely on the adjustment marks for rear wheel alignment on some bikes they can be up to 5mm difference side to side. I have pins machined up I install in the swingarm pivot bolt and rear axle then measure the distance. Works for me may work on other bikes too

Did you find they took much to get used too? I’v got a pair and just feel like a duck out of water wearing them, at night I find lights reflect all over the place inside your goggles which is a bit unsettling.

Well it appeared that bikes falling of utes was the flavour of the day. First of Tryhard tried dropping the big 530 of the side of his ute he was that keen after hearing we were going for another ride. I was to busy helping him get it back on to get a photo, but I did get a couple of photos of Bob’s parking effort!!

Well done Bob didn’t even bother you….. maybe worth joining those two planks together????

The morning started with Mal 5.1 leading the group through some trails the Old Bull spirit was high with every one helping each other. I think most people had a lay down somewhere along the way. I think it was Tom on the WR450 had a huge one right in front of SB250Y (He has that effect on people) I came around the corner to see Tom stuck under the WR with SB250Y on the job getting it off him. I took King Crashes big XR650 for a go up one of the big hills damn that is alot of bike 2nd gear was enough for me and it felt like it wanted to rip my arms off. Crash reckons I could have given it a bit hahaha. Crash the way you ride that bike is a real credit to you you must have huge steel balls!!!! I got to ride a big TTR250 up the same hill.
The crew ontop of the abovementioned hill.

We stopped for lunch then headed out for an afternoon session. The group had trimmed down a bit some due to bike problems others from being knocked around in the morning session.
It started with Mal leading the group off to a spot SB250Y and I ride. We dropped down through a creek and rode underneath the road through a storm water drain how cool was that!!! I wanted to get some photos but it was that slippery in there I didn’t want to stop.
SB250Y and Mal swapped roles then SB250Y led us through alot of the A4DE enduro tracks, we were moving along at a cracking pace then it started raining what a difference that makes the ground in places was like ice and the rocks were very slippery too. The tracked was blocked by three fallen trees so everyone had to go bush to get around them.

We got to slate hill and Rocket wanted to have a crack at it we could here the 530 reving up so I rode around to meet him at the top when I got there the 530 was cooking but he had made it, we could here another bike coming up and it was Tryhard on another 530. Well done guys that hill is a challenge in the dry let alone in the rain.
We headed back to camp, once we got there Rocket was still keen to ride so Tryhard, Rocket, Bob, SB250Y and I headed up the road to ride some more A4DE singles damn it was slippery in there we all did well not to drop the bikes.
The day finished with us getting stuck trying to get out of the camp ground, FWD van with light truck tyres didn’t go well on the clay.
Shame about the weather but I think everyone had a goodtime.

I have Gaerne SG12’s and don’t like them at all, IMO they are heavy, the pivot system doesn’t allow enough movement, I struggle to apply the rear brake whilst standing (Yes I have tried raising the pedal) and struggle to shift up gears even with a raised +5 hammerhead gearlever. I’ll be looking at the SIDI’s soon to replace these, hopefully they will be better! If not i will go back to a cheaper boot like a TECH 3 or 661 both of which I have been happy with.

Just got home from being out there today. Top day!

Maddo was flipping over everything!!!, there were a couple of offs by the riders no one injured but one very second hand YZ I think.

What I found awesome was how big the Moto X guys were going Tye Simmonds was going huge with huge whips, he won the whip contest today.
also Dan McCoy was going huge and also mixing in some top tricks.

I bought a ring compressor tool and it was too long because the stroke is so short.

Years ago on 2T triple cylinder jetskis, the easiest way to get the cylinder on was to use cable ties to compress the rings, Once the ring was in the cylinder the cable tie would drop down and you would just cut it to remove it.

    Another alternative maybe?

TB and I were talking about this last night, As I have the Zeus too.

They are a BIG ugly heavy helmet imo compared to most motocross helmets. And the sizing is all over the place.

But that aside I’v been pretty happy with mine for what it is I have done around 7000km of dirt adv riding with it, My mate who i ride with has the arai and he seems to have alot more issues with dust up under his visor than what I do. I wear a balaclava and scarf so there isn’t much room left for dust to get in.
I have the iridium visor on mine and it has held up well with very few scratches. The tinted visor on the arai appeared to scratch very easily (I am the visor cleaner).

Its very hard to get goggles that fit in the zeus although I do have a pair of Oakley O frames that fit nicely. For those times you want to wear goggles instead of having the visor down.

Wind noise in the Zeus is not as good as a road bike helmet but imo is not to bad and when i have worn my mates arai found the arai to be worse. Wearing the arai i need to wear ear plugs and so does my mate in the zeus I have never worn ear plugs.

There is plenty of room in the ear sockets for speakers.

Overall I’m pretty happy with it value for money i think is pretty good. I am a big fan of Arai’s and wear an Arai motocross helmet but don’t think I’d fork the dollars out for a ADV arai. I don’t know much about the shoei the people who have them seem pretty happy. And I think Rjay’s recently released an ADV helmet too priced around the Zeus.

The end to my 2010 Yellow Mountain CC.

I had the last of my tests done today and the news is good, no major damage to ribs neck or left shoulder and I’m getting movement back in my left arm. Right hand is broken in 3 places so overall i’m pretty happy considering….
For the second time my Leatt Brace I feel has saved my neck from serious damage!!! We have another Fox helmet to add to our helmet graveyard though.

My race finished at 106km on the first day after a allmighty off, I was stabilised trackside with the green whistle and morphine. then transported to Condo Hospital via ambulance. I don’t know 100% what is wrong at this stage, more tests tomorrow, I can’t wipe my own arse or dress myself.

I’ll throw a couple in here, not Aussies but they spent a fair bit of time out here in the mid eighties.

Anyone remember Jo Jo Keller ,Stephen Gall and him came together in a repercharge at the Supercross masters in about 1987???. The following year Gally had “LOOK OUT JO JO” on the back of his nylons, the crowd loved it…

Also Flash Gordy Ward almost single handly started the FMX scene here in Australia with his then renowned huge heel clickers.

I have a supersprox stealth rear sprocket on my spare wheels that from new had a wobble in it. It appears when they rivetted the outer to the inner they didn’t get it quite right!! It doesn’t look pretty but has never caused me any issues.

Must not do them anymore in a 17″

Last year Desert Edge in Alice Springs had a heap of 17″ deserts in stock… and thats what they were trying to sell us when we needed tyres.

Its an old page but I did find this. Click on sizes

TB have they stopped making them in a 17 or they just aren’t available at the moment?

I know a couple of years back I looked at them for my transalp and they were a 140/80 17.(Michelin size of course)

    RE tyres
Don’t know if it is of any interest to you guys. But when i have done my trips in the past I have used Dunlop 606’s.(We also used them in the Condo 750) Value for money they are great get an easy 5000km out of a rear on a transalp with approx 50/50 dirt and tar. Only one puncture and no tyre could have prevented that from happening.
Re Tubes The only let down with alot of the ADV style bikes is they run a 17″ rear and 17″ HD tubes are sometimes hard to source. 18″ HD tubes work fine on a 17″ rim.
