All good TB. You are right on the money when you start making them bigger and better there will be some pain. But as we all know you can never have enough power.

Bana (an Old Bull) had a reliable banana, fitted a big bore kit, blew up twice hasn’t been reliable since. IMO any bigger bore kit unless the engine was designed for it will compromise reliability simple mechanical science and facts prove that. The rod big end mains, cases etc are designed for the pressure and load that the standard bore puts on them, bigger increases that so it WILL wear it out faster

Buy a bigger bike or ride this one to its full potential

    TB ;)

Bike has blown up twice but not from the big bore kit. One was from cam timing ( me having the inlet cam advanced to much and not checking valve to piston clearance at TPD) valve hitting piston with STD barel and STD piston. Second time was big end with Std barel and high comp piston fitted. So that was a full strip and rebuild. All new bearing and new oil pump and rebuilted crank (should have fitted a 4mm stroker crank at the time). The STD barel was damaged so i fitted a new Athena 440 hi comp kit and have never had a problem. Went for the Athena kit because of the bigger water jackets.

Pay attention to “Eddie Sisneros” he is the bloke everyone worships..

Heaps of information… You could spend a month reading..

Get a bolt on.. Athena is the way to go from what I have read… 416 CC to 470 CC direct bolt on, done in a day no machining.. You will need to re-jet, cams etc.. Heaps forsale on ebay from USA..

Eddie Sisneros is the Guru when it comes to DRZ’s

    Hi all
    How times change.
I hade a ED78 out at condo one year TB and you baged me out for not getting a desert.
The ED78 was and is a great tyre and been around a long time.
The same as a desert but cheaper. Will be keen to see what you think TB.
This is how many km’s i have gotten out of mine.
100km at the condo 750 before big CRASH.
Did yellow mt last year which is about 400 odd km’s or a bit more
550 odd km ride from the central coast to buladehela round trip and a few small rides about 200km’s.
So round 1250 odd km’s and i will do a few rides round here before changing.so will get 1500 out of it.
They are a heavy tyre so smaller cc bikes would know its there.

Does anyone know of a replacement gear shift that is longer than standard to suit a DRZ400.
I am finding that the space between the foot peg and the shift tip is too close with my size 12 boot.

    Hi All
There are 3 answer for you.
Cut and weld or after market ( Hammerhead gear leavel)
You could cut your left foot depending on how keen you are.

    Hi Banna

Mate I reckon you might be able to help or anyone for that matter, I am after a complete back wheel without a tyre for DRZ400E.
I am going to go speedway out Nepean raceway and I hate changing tyres, any other feed back would be helpfull as I need all the help I can get.

    Cheers Man. image001-fae417192283f42900bafb3870c68fb5.gif[/quo
