I agree, in this day & age we can shop anywhere we like, it is up to the dealers or shops to provide the proper service, because if they don’t there are business people out there that will do the work to please their clientele
Partly the reason why Louise & I opened our store. We were sick to death of working in K-mart dealerships where the customers are treated like dollars bills & not like people.
A classic one for you. Louise worked in Finance & Insurance in one of Sydneys biggest bike shops. (She is an Electronics Tech by trade, but has been a bike nut all her life) Louise decided she wanted to work in an industry that she was passionate about.
So she got a job in a bike shop, she thought it was great, being around bike riders everyday, talking to people that are just as passionate as her, until the GM dragged her over the coals for spending to much time signing people up for finance and or insurance. You see she was in the business of selling money, not the bike industry, that she loved. Mind you they didn’t see that her little bit of extra time she spent with people was sealing the deal. People were comfortable buying from her, because they could see she cared. Needless to say that cock head GM is now the GM of a toyota dealership, where he belongs, in the need industry, not the want industry.

They tend to fit whatever they can get at a price.
I’ve never seen a bike with a good set of tyres OEM.
I just purchased an M109R road bike. The oem Dunlos are old outdated pieces of crap. I fitted a set of Metzeler ME880’s. It changed the handling charactristics of the bike immediately
The european bikes have soft Mud/Smad tyres fitted, because thats all there is in Europe. They are not going to fit tyres that suit Oz conditions. The Japanese brands, Well Dunlop & Bridgestones are japanese & they give them great bulk buy deals on tyres that will wear out relatively fast, becuase that means repeat sales. You have to remember there is no such thing as bargaining in some countries, so you don’t shop around, you return to your selling dealer always. When I work for Kawasaki Australia, the Japs could not understand why australians would shop around for the best bike deal, as far as they are concerned all the shops should be selling the bikes at the RRP & you should be loyal & shop locally.

I used to be the largest stockist of Maxxis in NSW. We carried over 250 tyres in stock, had 7 sponsored riders, 3 were on a free tyre deal. It just goes to show that Distributers are dickheads. Our Rep left, the new rep started, he didn’t like the discount structure, so he changed it. Maxxis are awesome tyres, I love them, ask TB, the SI’s are by far their best, it’s better than the IT you have been using. Unfortunately they have very poor stock levels in Oz & they only receives 3 stock orders a year. As I said the distributors are dickheads. The new Pirelli MX eXTra as it is named is a High Durability tyre, especially designed to suit the Australian conditions, not like those shitty Euro tyres that are fitted standard to your KTM when you pick it up.
Give the MX eXTra a go, you won’t be dissapointed.

    On another note.
I have just unpacked the Pivot Pegz, they are all ready to be posted.
Can you all please let me know when they have arrived.

    Thank you

    Hey Husky

Have you ridden in the mud with the Motoz yet?

We used to stock them until one of my sponsored riders highsided tapped in 3rd gear, it was muddy, he was going in a straight line. He was a bit fucked up from the crash
Then a friend of TB’s,’the no neck fat head’. bought 6 rears & 3 fronts, him & his mates did a weekend ride, the trails were a bit muddy & greasy, they cut the weekend short, because they couldn’t climb any hills. I spoke to Motoz about this & was told that pure rubber will not work in wet conditions.

    YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Spoke to my cousin Habib at ASIO last night & he said they would lay off for a couple of weeks. At least until you’ve had a chance to test the pivot pegs.

Moto & Champo money cleared all good.

Pivot Pegs are still on annual leave.
I have emailed him the order & will let you all know the progress as soon as Alan replies.

Thank you all for your prompt payments, hopefully you will be on the pegs very soon.

Fathead, I have leg ham off the bone & a special kind of sauce for you.B)

    Hey Moto

If you are with Westpac, I see the payment almost immediately.
    Very weird!
Don’t forget the ecomony is pretty poor at present, if Westpac take your money & don’t give it to me for 48 hours, they will make an extra Billion dollars profit.
    I’ll keep you updated

I used to own an Aquarium (10 years) before the bike shop.
I had 200 tanks stocked freshwater & marine.
Bred Cichlids for a long time.
Wrote fish keeping articles in the local paper for 12 months, used to be called ‘the fish god.’
Still have a 4′ x 2′ x 2′ tank with a couple of colonies of african cichlids, mainly to keep the kids amused.

    Brake pads. What a topic.
Everyone has there own opinion, everyone has there prefered brand.
I will say this though, any shop that wants to charge you $85 for a set of shitty Ferodo brake pads should be burnt to the ground.

Generally there are two types of Dirt brake pads.
Organic & Sintered. There are two compounds of Sintered offered by the leading brake pad manufacturers.

Organic being your cheaper option. ie: Red EBC
A cold temperature carbon based brake pad for off road use in dry conditions.

Sintered being the compound of brake pad fitted by all motorcycle manufacturers in the past 10 or so years.
A sintered copper alloy brake pad for off road use in all conditions, dry, wet, sand.

Sintered Race, Ultra high friction sintered copper alloy brake pad for maximum life, suited to fast riding conditions in dry, mud, sand.

Battye’s Bikes currently stock Bendix & EBC. The reason for stocking 2 x brands! EBC are currently suffering supply problems & Bendix are Sydney based & delivery is next day on all pads.
The Bendix Motorcycle range is not realated to the Bendix car range. Bendix Motorcycle brake pads are premium quality.
All Sintered brake pads range from $46 to $70 per set.

Battye’s Bikes do not stock or recommend Organic brake pads.

I hope this helps you choose your next set of brake pads.
