    DAY 4
After Bob somehow bought wheel bearings in Coffs at 900 pm on a sat night, we headed to Pine Creek on the Northside of town.
The creeks were back to normal but rain the night before meant conditions were slick but you could still get going pretty good in the really tight stuff especially the ones with bermed corners.A few of us got up close and personel with the red clay.

We took the hard way home and there was plenty of wet diagonal logs usually in pairs, we had to get the saw out a few times for fallen trees and there was this one wich was two trees fallen next to each other plus a ankle high stump in the middle of it.

    Then one last hill.

A top weekend considering,LC really handles his berg well , if Galey makes it up a hill but isnt happy with how it went hed have another go and its always good to meet someone with a bike more scatched than mine (Bob) we could call him Tenacious B, he just wont quit, he would have had 10+ gos at a hill even if he never looked like making it.
Hopefully one day well get a dry one in, maybe winter is a bit drier, but we would probably just be wet and cold.

    DAY 3
There were 7 on day 3, Ev, LC, Bob, Galey, Rosco33, Macka and Adam.
We headed to Macksville, on what has turned out to be a tour of the Nth coast.

    026-1.jpg

We set a good pace to Hanging rock, then dopped down into a nice creek trail.

Then a short transport to more singles and another creek that was even better this is were my camera packed it in so no video. After a “Lunch” break  we headed back out and rode some more trails including the creek trail from the Macksville 2011 ride, it had alot more water than that day and Bob and Galey both drowned there bikes. The water was brown so you couldnt see the bottom and some parts were alot deeper than others ,I turned around and saw Bob neck deep, seat under floating down the creek lucky he had given me his camera.

Then rode some fast ridgeline firetrails that had some nice elevation changes and some 3rd gear hills.
We ended the day on a rocky hill that had a few steps.

And best of all it didnt rain a drop, and even the Bello bridge opened this arvo wich meant the boys could do some repairs at my house.

    DAY 2
What a difference a day can make after the worst case scenario of tursday ,friday turned out great.
I headed home, the road was closed but people were sneaking around the signs. there was water on the road in three places, one was 100mt long, the Jumbuck has the clearence of a Corolla but I snuck through.

    037-2.jpg

We met STM and headed west, lots of trails were out of action, but we only had to turn around a couple of times, and the ones we did were awesome. We couldnt get to Glenreagh, but we did do heaps of single including some really technical stuff that I havent done before, and a nice trail called Two step.

We ended up at the Widow Maker, Galey and Bob had several goes, Bob made it just above the big divet then fell off the side his bike rolled down the hill side over side then he followed it while we laughed.
I made it twice but then stalled halfway, in a vain attempt to keep my 100% record I tried to restart 5 times, each time ending badly untill I was practically at the bottom. We had lunch at Mullaway then headed to the bike shop to replace some damaged parts. It didnt rain once all day up there and any doubts about coming were long gone.

Macksville caltex 8am.Seriously as long as we avoid some creeks (hopefully they will be ok by Sat) then Macksville will be a top day.

I was so close to calling it off but after seeing the staunchness of Bob, Galey and Matt I decided to have a crack and see (or maybe it was the can of bourbon)
I went for a 2 hour recon North and South.
It was pouring from the moment i left but Im happy to say it was alot better than id hoped ,even some of the northside was rideable.
I got up 3 of the 4 nastiest hills on the south side first go, and a tricky little rutty clay one on the Northside.
There were a few creeks that were high but others that were surprisingly low.
Conditions cant get any worse than they were today, but i can honestly say it was fun.
And Macksville will be 100% better than here.
The bridge is about to open and even Waterfall Way is open.
    Its on!! 👿 👿

Go the coast Galey, the road between Dorrigo and Bello is called “Waterfall Way ” the waterfalls actually cover the road when its flooding. They have had alot of rain up there 226ml in one day.
Bellingen 160ml but Coffs only had 26ml,Nambucca 10ml, Colambatti ( Near Macksville) 22ml.
    Its patchy and unpredictable.
    The Bom says
    Thurs – rain easing
Fri, Sat Sun a few showers
Its not gunna be the ride we wanted Nth Bello and west Coffs are a write off, well be making the best out of a bad situation. But second best around here is still OK
I know for sure Macksville will be sweet.
But the fact is Ive never riden alot of the other trails when its this wet so there is the potential for things to happen.
This would be my third Bello washout so I wont be offended if no one turns up.
We can reschedule but that would take months and it could washout anyway.
Planning this far ahead on the Nth coast is tricky.
If people are still keen then it will happen.
I think if were smart about it and prepared we can stay out of trouble and have a decent ride about 70%,We will have to do a bit of driving, and we will get wet.

    No worries Murph.
    To anyone still coming
Dont worry the flooding is not as serious as they make out, its just the bridge that goes under and it will be above the water by tonight, we are not isolated there are other ways into town, no houses are flooded it happens regularly ,if the bridge was 2m higher we wouldnt even make the news.
As far as the riding goes I know what people are expecting and if it wasnt possible I would call it off.
The rain today was very heavy in patches, but it only rained for a total of about 4 hours ,the sun even came out for 30 mins.
The forecast for Fri, Sat,and Sun is alot better than today.
STM has had a lot less rain up his way than on his last ride and he has offered to lead us for a day up there if need be.
South Bello, Macksville and STMs are rideable even in the worst case scenario.

Mine is similar mike, its probably a good idea to buy a 1 litre aluminium bottle from Bcf, that way you dont have to worry.
