I use a 51 on the back , you can use 2 gear alot more on hills and singles.
I tried a 52 and it was terrible , I found for every tooth on the back you loose about 12ks per hour in top speed.
Max speed with a 52 was about 85/95ks , and everytime you backed off the throttle you almost went over the bars.

If you can afford it the softer the better, but on a budget ive been using geomax and retreads this year.
Bring a new one if you can , ive just got a Knobby knife , so we can touch up any tyres that need it.

Im thinking two big ones ,grade 5 on the fri, grade 4 to lowanna on the sat.
Then maybe half rides on the thurs arvo and sun morn.
There is about 600 ks of prime riding around Bello so the stamina will run out long before the trails.
The trails are as good as anywhere, and completely different to out west , its mountainous rainforest ,heaps of really tight single track and massive hills.
Accomadation will depend on numbers I have one spare room and a verandah, plus a big backyard, there are two pubs , a caravan park (no cabins though) and two dozen bed and breakfasts.
There are cabins and houses for rent ten min away in Urunga.
If you need convincing check out the ride reports bellingen to lowanna jan 2011,and coffs grade 4 18/9.

Kram youve got poll position mate.
Galey and white rocket hope you can make it , it is a long drive , but will be worth it,8 hours of sitting down will probably seem appealing after 3 days in Bello.

Nick did the 450s have standard pipes?
They make a huge difference to the snappiness.
After 2 years with loud pipes (one you could fit your fist in)i have recently switched back to the stock pipe(originally i pulled it off the day i got it).
A guy i know told me he only used his loud one for fun and when he raced he used the standard because it is smoother more controlled power.
I tried it and am totally converted (even with the spark arrester and a hole as small as your thumb )
The bottom end is much tamer.
I find hill climbs are much easier ,when workiing the clutch the gap between wheel spin and wheelstand is measurably larger,it stalls less, starts better and getting sideways feels alot more controllable.
It sounds slower and probably is in a straight line but over all i think its worth the trade off (so do my neighbours)
Youll never covince me that 5 kgs is worth 200cc (maybe 20kgs ie a two stroke is worth it)
I know people say only the best riders ever use all the power, but i feel like im using it everytime i hit a straight or powerslide out of a corner, never do i feel like its to much power.
    My two cents. Cheers Ev

Great photos as usual Murph, I wish you lived a bit closer to coffs. I would love a lesson on vertical rock walls.

Is there any footage of the two that made the widow maker(in the wet)?
Did they do it in first or second?
    What line did they take?

I know were you can get a black 09 Wr ,garaged , hardly used only done 9000ks (some minor body damage)
Seriously why do you want a 250 the weight difference is hardly noticeable , but the power is undeniable.
Macca had a 250 wr , he had a go of the 450 and bought one the next day.

I agree, go the 450 it will be about 5kgs lighter than the drzzzz

    5kgs more like 20kgs

How scratched is it on a scale of 1 to mine?
Rocky mountain has complete plastic kits for $120 (for a WR anyway)
Ive found that chicks like the scratches but since you ride a DR thats probably not an issue 😆
