well i took it out for a good run today must have just been the fuel ratio stuffing up the show. i had to bump up the idle screw a little and the band got better and more predictive as the day went on :woohoo: so im realy happy with it managed to play with a couple of big bore xrs and thay could onley get close on the long straights so i had a great day on it thanks for all the help.
the pacer looks pretty cool with the challenger scoop left of fild but it seems to work
no big block but its on the cards once the new 871 blower goes on procharger blown 454 sharioff small block at moment(400 rodeck alloy block stroker crank its on the bottle too see photo) righto i must be behind the times a fair bit on my thinking i thought it would be the oppisite for the wr ill whip the barrel off next week anyway and have a sticky as i want to confirm the top end rebuild this bike was suppused to of had(better the devil i know)i onley need a barrel gasket i assume as the head is oringed i think and theres no letter stamp on the head so hopefully ill find somthing on the piston i figured mine was over heating as it was running on after ideleing abitwhen i hit the stopper and it used a bit of coolant after that ride [img]http://www.obtrailriders.com/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/019.JPG[/img]
yeh im a lowly plant mechanic thet spinns spanners on the weekend for uncle bob sheppards top fuel dragster 8000hp 4.9 sec quarters so i suppose im a bit biased to things that go fast
yep its a rv90 (dubbed the ommpalupa bike)as it could be bunyhopped and ridden by anyone it was such a cool bike. the torana looks sweet my mum had a yellow lj with grapics and a full size proscoop and tubbs when i was a kid(was in all the rare spares adds in the 90s)bad020 plates we sold it to fund the outlaw hq monaro that won the summernats burnout comp with mum drivin in 91/92/93 so thats y i cant grow up ive always wanted an a9x butit never eventuated i had a hk munro on my p plates but sold it to fund my bns ute still kickin myself for that but i love my camaros thank god i have an understanding wife lol
to the suggestion that my sparks not sufficant i fitted my snap on spark plug and it jumpt the 4 mil gap so i rueled out the spark im in agreeance that the power valve may be sticky to which i want to pull the sucker out and clean it up its probly full of oil n gunk but im planing to give it a run with the family over the weekend and attack it during the week im a bit supprised over the aggressiveness of the band i thought thay were ment to be tamer than the yz but i havent ridden a similar model yz so cant comment the onley thing i think it needs is another gear though ive heard thay can be fitted in the case if wanted. i see u ride a yz. how do u find it on the slower trails as mine seems to heat up quick if im puting round waiting for the quads to catch up sorry if im a bit blunt but after afew rums ive been told i can get opinionated i mean no offence
austblue thats a genuine matching numbers 67 rs 327 manule apart from the wheels its an as ordered copo. there going for around 80gs in the states if u can find 1. so theres no way in hell id cut it up and due to the20 year old rule in nsw i dont have to and its the kids inheritance its safer than the house lol but yeah i love ranas too but i love camaros more lol
sorry mate was writing when u posted looks like a tidy 50h 5 years is cool the 79 was pulled down in 93 and is onley now seeing the light of day and its still not finished so youve done well the 67 took a lot of years too moneys always the problem
the chinease quad was $700 landed on my doorstep because she wanted an exersise bike for chrissi and i thought it would be a good learner to get her off horses? it worked so im happy she comes out with us and we can ride as a family then i was offered the thumpster thing for $300 so i grabbed it if thay last a year i dont give a damn it gets the family involved which i think is priceless and better than blowing racing money on a passing fad if thay arnt into it i can burn em en not feel bad lol. and the lh hatch looks cool whats it running?
yeah ok will try to find the caltex stuff i onley ran the valvoline cause it was at the servo and diident need to drive the extra 10mins to the local bike dealer. when u work and have to pick kids up and do swimming lessons then feed em time matters lol sure u fellers are in the same boat lol
yeah the 79s got a 454 but a small block sharioff from the states with a pro charger blow threw set up
well had a look at the reeds no dramas then thought id cheat a bit had half a tank in her(4l) put 1 liter of straight fuel in and went for a squirt whoa diddnt that wake the old girl up not sure if the valves still sticking but awesome 4th gear clutch kick wheelie for a block so shes back to her old self but will have to tune it a bit as it wont idle but im pretty confident that was the issue will grab some fuel sys cleaner tomorrow and hopefully will make it better. now how to get the oil outa the pipe an oxie worked on the old it 175 pipe but dont think i can be that cruel to thiss one thanks for the help old bulls im still interested whether i can pull the power valve out to clean it tho. i will go for a more dedicated ride tmorrow arvo tho and see how it goes
oh yeah and it already has an iridium plug in it and bought a spare this morning not sure what u mean by redex is it some kind of fuel system cleaner?
righto ill whip the reeds out and have a sticky i thought the ratios were a bit of overkill as my old it and rmx ran 110mls to 5l but that was the old super tt oil. the guy i brought it off was running thas mix with synthetic the pipe hasent gone oily so i didnt realy clue him ill drain this lot and make a new batch what oil do u guys recomend ror it
yep wouldent advise someone to do it solo with out knowing where to go if you had to head for the hills but the state forest sections are ok. waterboards a definate no no but its ok when the weathers cold(no one in the fire spotting towers)helps if u have a key(wink wink) if u have to bug out too but u can ride to the escarpment over looking wollongong or ride thru to fitzroy falls/kangaroo vally me and the misses did it on the quads last month
