The Brass monkey
ride was hatched some time ago following a phone call from Scotty (the one that binned it in the video ) :woohoo: saying that Bozos missus wanted to throw him a surprise birthday party for his 40th. Of course we were all over this like a fat kid on a lollypop.
Some texts were sent out over the following 5 weeks and all the Tamworth OBTs were on board to make this happen.
There were a few close calls but apparently following some quick thinking and side stepping Brenda had pulled off the surprise party for Boze. 😆 Our only job was to get him to the nundle pub by 4.00 Saturday afternoon. I recon we got the easy part as his a bloody ride Hoare.
The ride itself was a cracker it had everything, including a full service for someone’s CRF 450 X . :pinch: I had the honour of leading the birthday crew out to the berry patch with the thought constantly in the back of my mind to be back at the pub on time, I then thought “crap no watch” :pinch: Boze unbeknown to him actually came to the rescue and set up the clock on my 350s dash, thanks Boze. Snowy was to lead us back, The ride out was awesome, I was having a ball trying to keep ahead of them nasty 530 katos , them boys play for keeps. The rest of the crew said the ride flowed well all the way. We no sooner took our helmets off at the berry patch and down she came, a mixture of rain sago and snow. As Andy said even the local wombats (not the ones that rode in on bikes) headed for cover. The warm hospitality and a good feed that is always put on for us at the berry patch made us forget for a brief moment that we actually had to ride the 60 odd ks back to nundle.
The weather cleared a bit so we made a run for it Snow led the valiant troops out of the patch with me saying at every stop, “keep your eye on the time” we can’t get back to early or we will wreck the surprise. Well Mother Nature thought we couldn’t organise a root in a brothel so she took over.  You could hear her say, you will do this my way instantly the black clouds we had been watching suddenly disappeared,( only because we couldn’t see them through the driving rain/hail/snow) At one stage I was riding along and thought Boony your being lazy ,stand up. As soon as I stood up a bloody great clap of thunder hit and I went F*^K that I`m sitting down. We rode for about ½ hour and then there was Snow, Scotty and myself waiting on a corner when the branches started to fall from the trees. I made the Beer call and the ride was canned. We hit the main road and headed back to the cars. I have never been colder or so bloody happy to see the cars before on a ride. We even had to have a beer or three at our loading point just to get our timing right for the real reason we were in Nundle. 👿 👿 👿
The surprise went off perfectly, Boze had no idea and the night was a blast. The bloody pub had no power for about 2 hours and we were all pooling our ideas for cash if the power didn’t come back on. I was gunna sell Bolls Honda after all it was freshly serviced.
The cake with the trail bike scene was unbelievable.Hey Boze
Happy birthday mate andSURPRISE.       👿 :woohoo:

Aaron wrote:Went for a ride on the 300 two stroke this morning. Would like to have another 300 in my garage. The map switch on the fly was great and really noticeable. Not like other bikes I have tried where its hard to tell the difference. I didn’t realise it was on when I first took it out and thought this is very manageable. So when I got back and he told me I took it out again and it was in your face and the perfect goon machine!!!! Best of both worlds. I sat on a hill and tried its torque at just above idle and it was very smooth and I wished for some technical rock to throw it at. How did “they” manage to convince us to on mass go high tech 4 t’s while things like this were around. (Obviously not this one but the 300 exc was) fn mad as. I’m in love with the other woman that smells like oil. LolI have heard nothing but good about these 2t. Mmmmm too early for an upgrade?????????. Apparently the 250 I’d the ducks guts.

Nickj wrote:We hit spuds loop today and it was awesome , conditions perfect , trails in good nick and hills to challenge everyone !!!We left spuds at 7.50 and got back at 4.30 , we did stop for some trail maintenance but with 20 riders we will need to be on our game to make the day work so we will have a bit of an earlier start on Saturday and we have organised a mixed sandwich plater at the pub to help us keep daylight on our side . None of the trails are to be missed it really is a top loop :woohoo:

I agree nick.a early start is the go around 9.00/9.30 should do the trick.

snowy09 wrote:No Boony your confused. The 250 is purchased by Tenere riders to carry as an optional spare unless of course they go with an after market spare such as an XR650. Mick was lucky he already had one, now he just needs to fit a spare carrier onto his Tenere and he’s right to do long trips.Maybe mick has a fat are and that’s why teneree bottomed out or do all standard Yamaha’s handle like bags of manure.
Be strong girl. All the best MATE.
snowy09 wrote:So mick as I’m not a latte sipper you will have to explain how you managed to ride a bog standard Tenere. After reading TBs thread TB’s New XTZ660 Tenere #4 09 May 2014 20:26 #164224, I figured they must be a crock when you have to do that much after market work to them to make them rideable. Worse still all the bits he replaced with after market stuff he put into your bike. The only obvious solution is that you must be an incredibly skilled rider to be able to do what you managed, suppose that’s obvious when you were drinking beer instead of lattes.Didn’t the Yamaha 250s also get a full rebuild before they would do what they were purchased for. I’m starting to think Yamaha’s aren’t much chop straight out of the box. Buzz what’s your take on this subject.
